Episode notes

Three stories on passenger safety and health at sea. Carnival Valor briefly listed to starboard on the Mississippi River near New Orleans on August 17, 2026, with passengers describing a sharp turn that sent pool water across upper decks and into indoor dining areas; the ship righted itself, arrived in New Orleans on schedule at 8 a.m. CDT and departed for its next cruise at 3:30 p.m., and Carnival said vessel movements of this nature can occur during normal navigation and that the circumstances are being reviewed. Norwegian Dawn scored 84 on a March 29, 2026 CDC Vessel Sanitation Program inspection, below the minimum passing score of 86, and Norwegian Cruise Line filed a corrective-action report with the CDC five days later, ahead of the ship's Jacksonville homeport season running November 2026 through March 2027. And off British Columbia, a passenger aboard Royal Caribbean's Ovation of the Seas was airlifted on August 8, 2026 roughly 52 nautical miles northwest of Tofino, after Joint Rescue Coordination Centre Victoria dispatched a CH-149 Cormorant helicopter and a CC-295 Kingfisher aircraft and the ship increased speed to 22 knots to reach the rendezvous point; the patient was taken to a Victoria hospital and the sailing continued its Alaska itinerary.
