Long time no listen! While the Fall semester heated up Cassie and I needed to cool down – but we’re back! In this episode, we interview one of Cassie’s mentors from her undergraduate days, Dr. Jon Gore. Dr. Gore is faculty at Eastern Kentucky University. Not only does he have a prolific lab that engages undergraduates in research, he is also an accomplished hip-hop artist and creative writer who is on his 24th book! In this episode, he shares his wisdom on leading a student-driven lab, discusses his research (on the self, goal motivation, and even dreams), critiques the traditional text-test format, and how to vet RAs and build a healthy personal life + lab culture.
