Fences, hedges and where someone has mowed the lawn for 20 years don’t necessarily establish the legal property boundary.

Especially on Long Island, where properties may have decades of additions, fences, sheds and changes, understanding the survey can be an important part of due diligence.

Don’t just look at the yard. Understand the property you’re actually buying.
