Some Assembly Required

Hello,

Welcome to Cager’s Coffee Break!

Have you ever bought something that came in a box with those three innocent little words:

“Some assembly required.”

That sounds harmless enough.

You open the box thinking, “How difficult could this possibly be?”

Forty-five minutes later, there are screws all over the floor, three pieces that don't seem to belong anywhere, and you're holding the instruction sheet upside down wondering why the picture in Step 4 looks absolutely nothing like what's sitting in front of you.

Then comes the really scary part.

You finish assembling it…and there are two screws left over.

Now you have a decision to make.

Take the whole thing apart and figure out where they belong—or quietly put the screws in a drawer and pretend you never saw them.

Sometimes we want to rush to the finished product without appreciating all the little pieces required to get there.

Coffee has a similar story.

Before those beans ever reach the roaster, freshly harvested coffee cherries must go through processing and drying. During drying, moisture inside the coffee is gradually reduced until the beans reach a level suitable for storage and the next stages of their journey.

That process can't simply be rushed without consequences. Drying coffee too quickly, too slowly, or unevenly can affect its quality. Producers may carefully spread coffee out and turn it regularly, so it dries more consistently.

There's something about that process that sounds a lot like life.

Some things simply take time.

We can become impatient because we want everything finished right now.

We want the answer.

We want a breakthrough.

We want the problem solved.

We want to skip directly to Step 10 when life still has us working through Step 4.

But sometimes those middle steps are doing something important.

That's where patience develops.

That's where experience grows.

That's where we learn what works—and occasionally what does not work.

Maybe there's something in your life right now that seems to be taking longer than you expected.

Don't automatically assume the delay means you're going nowhere.

You may simply be in one of those necessary stages that can't be hurried.

Give it time.

Keep doing what you can.

And don't forget to enjoy your life while you're waiting for everything to come together.

Pour yourself a cup of Cager’s Coffee, sit down for a few minutes, and appreciate how many careful steps went into bringing that coffee from the plant all the way to your cup.

And if you happen to be sitting in the chair you just assembled while you're drinking it…well, maybe don't lean back too far…

We still haven't figured out where those two screws belong, so take a break and share a cup of coffee with a friend or family member and keep brewing kindness one cup at a time, so don’t forget to grab yourself a delicious cup of Cager’s Coffee and come visit us at www.cagerscoffeehut.com.
