Drug Awareness Community Meeting with Laura Howard

Drug Awareness Community Meeting Tuesday, Nov. 1st, 2022 5:30-6:30 p.m. BHSC Gym #1 Pioneer Drive, Batesville, AR 72501 The Batesville School District is hosting a Drug Awareness meeting on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, from 5:30 - 6:30 at the BHSC Gym (#1 Pioneer Drive, Batesville, AR 72501) in coordination with our Pioneer Parent Academy. The Community Schools Coordinator, Laura Howard started this academy during COVID to inform and educate parents about various topics and provide resources to better serve our students and community. In honor of Red Ribbon Week and due to recent overdoses across the state impacting minors, the district felt a sense of urgency to hold a community meeting as a space for our parents, stakeholders, and students to learn from professionals about the fentanyl crisis. In attendance, we will have guest speakers from the 16th Judicial Drug Task Force and White River Health. Once the presentation is over, participants will be given the opportunity to sign up for a class provided by White River Health educating them on how to administer Naloxone (NARCAN) along with rehabilitation and detox resources. Our goal is to be proactive instead of reactive while creating a safe environment at both home and school. We also hope this information will empower our community members to recognize the signs and behaviors if a loved one encounters these substances. Together we can educate our community for a safe and healthy future. Sponsored by Citizens Bank and White River Now
