New preschool coming Fall 2023 at Sulphur Rock campus

BSD's Communications Coordinator, Megan Renihan, talks about the huge news and expansion for child care. Odessey of the Mind and Chess are State Bound, with GT Teacher, Raven Cash

Eagle Mountain Elementary's GT (Gifted and Talented) Teacher, Raven Cash, talks about the recent events and competitions students have participated in. February 25 • Odessey of the Mind qualifiers Creative problem-solving program, for Kindergarten - college The EM 4th-5th grade team took home the 1st-place medal (Problem #1 - Vehicle) Students were tasked to design a vehicle that two students could safely ride on, as well as create a script and props. Saturday, April 1 • State Odessey of the Mind competition Batesville Elementary's chess team recently competed in Regionals and took home 1st place! The team consisted of Eagle Mountain, Sulphur Rock, and West elementary students. March's "Reading Madness" with Mrs. Jennifer Douglas

Mrs. Jennifer Douglas, BSD Assistant Superintendent, talks about the literacy events taking place in classrooms, across the state of Arkansas, and at home. March "Reading Madness" "Read Across America", February 27 - March 3 "If All Arkansas Read the Same Book", March 6 - April 1 A competition across the state will have students read, "J.D. and the Great Barber Battle" by J. Dillard. There will be activities that go along with the storyline, which can be done at school and at home Partnered with EAST students who will record reading the book 2nd Annual Scavenger Hunt, March 6 - April 3 Passports will be sent home with students, Kindergarten through 5th Grade -- if your child doesn't receive one, the passports will be available in your child's campus office. 5 locations throughout the city, where students will figure out riddles and receive stickers. Once the passport is completed, the student can turn it in to be entered into a drawing for a Kindle -- the drawing will take place on April 3rd Reading on the River, April 1 At Riverside Park from 10 am to 12 pm Come to enjoy reading and fun activities! BHSC students prepare for National EAST Conference in March

Batesville High School Charter (BHSC) EAST Facilitator, Lori Campbell, and students, Faith Cheatham and Brayden Johnson talk about the EAST program. What is E.A.S.T. Initiative? EAST is Education Accelerated by Service and Technology It's an elective class that is self-led and project-based. Students choose a project to help someone in the community and use a range of professional-grade equipment and software. BHSC EAST is gearing up for the National Conference in Hot Springs this March Students present their projects and showcase them at their booth "Through a Child's Eye" - a video that will be shown at the Children's Advocacy Center in April Greenery at the Food Truck Lot Podcast and book recording for the Pioneers RISE (QR Codes to their work will be placed in restaurants for advertisement) Documentation Team The team records the 3-day conference: video, live stream, and photographs.
