BOSS Throwback Thursday with Sarah Iooss, Head of Sales at Twitch from 2021

Throwback Thursday from 2 years ago:BOSS is thrilled to welcome Sarah Iooss, Head of Sales, America at Twitch (Part of Amazon Advertising now)! We met at Viacom and became close friends when stranded at the airport during a CES trip with Michael Saperstein, Josh Golden, and Paul Kontonis.Sarah was a first mover in #digitaltransformation "I immersed completely in digital media and have loved every second of it watching all of the biggest changes occur""I got a call from my current boss, Walker Jacobs, about a role at Twitch. I thought I was going back to a gaming company and it's been so much more than that. I love working in gaming because it's so creative but Twitch is a community above anything else.""We as business leaders can make a difference with our spending power, with our leadership, with our voices...A lot of marketers I think still today feel like there is risk around that kind of communication, but I think there's risk if you don't, if you're not talking about it. I love to see the change that's happening and the accountability that business is taking...I think at this point it's table stakes"Sarah is also involved in a charity called Repurpose. Hear more..Check out Jacqueline Hernández (She. Her. Ella.)'s BOSS on my LinkedIn feed too!#stakeholdercapitalism #diversity #leadership

BOSS with Paul Canetti, Founder & Professor at Columbia Business School - June '23

Welcome to BOSS Paul Canetti, Founder & Professor at Columbia Business School (Tech & Product focus). I first met Paul during my time at General Assembly when he made me and my clients (i.e. L'Oréal Jessica McGiff-Drapiza Ana Melara) smarter in the tech, product, and UX space. "The thing I always really find myself wanting to do when it comes to tech and my career since then is try to figure out what is that next thing that's on the bleeding edge and how can I help other companies sort of get there to take advantage of it. If I'm peering over the (tech) cliff, I can give everyone the heads up.""It's stressful and overwhelming for marketing executives because they're underwater. You know, you come in, you're a new CMO, you say, I'm gonna, you know, rip down the wallpaper and turn this place around. And then you realize you have such a backlog of stuff. But sometimes it's almost better to declare marketing bankruptcy. And just say, you know, I don't know what all that is, but here's how we're gonna do it going forward." Plus, ICYMI, BOSS is now officially a podcast on Spotify and Apple. Go check out prior BOSS episodes on the go including Lola Bakare Dylan Huey Kim Rittberg 🚀 Katy Stover Carla Zakhem-Hassan Rose Stuckey Kirk Evan Shapīro Donna Sharp▶ Fun Fact: I finally tried Descript to edit this BOSS episode and it was 3x faster than just using iMovie (Descript team, let's talk BOSS podcast sponsorship 😁 !!!!!)#business #boss #leadership #networking #tech #career #podcast

As we get ready for Cannes '23, I'm thrilled to share this conversation with Lola right after Cannes '22BOSS is thrilled to welcome & LinkedIn Top Voice in Marketing & Advertising '22! She's fresh off of her first Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity experience and bringing these incredible insights straight to you...."The content creation creator theme is something that we're going to see so much more of.""I really made this transition from passionate frontline practitioner to thought leader, thought sparker, guide, and content creator on all things marketing, particularly inclusive marketing and marketing leadership.""If you get a chance to raise your hand... raise it!" "Someone asked, how many of you have a side hustle?" Watch for the potentially shocking answer...."The vibe I'm getting (on the future of #martech) is utter simplification." "If I was working at a startup that wasn't simplifying something in the data space, I would start looking for a new job. That's harsh but that's the way I see it.""I want to be known as a voice that inspires marketing leaders to reach for something more."

BOSS with Dylan Huey, Gen Z Founder & Influencer Club at USC

I met my next BOSS guest IRL at #ces2023 at an amazing dinner hosted by Ben Relles. Dylan Huey is a Gen Z Founder and Content Creator with 1 Million Followers AND my youngest BOSS guest to date. He's also a University of Southern California student and runs the first and only influencer club at USC that has expanded to UCLA, LMU, Chapman and Duke (University of Pennsylvania friends let's get on this!) Dylan started his content creation when he was getting bullied in middle school. "I wanted to show other people that there are others that relate to them....I was vulnerable on social media and very authentic... It's so cool to see parents coming up to me saying that my content saved their children's lives." We talk Metaverse, AI, ChatGPT blowing up and more. You'll also learn that Dylan's mom created Xbox Live and named all the Sonic characters and that his dad was the CFO of Sega for over 20 years. "I've been lucky to grow up in Silicon Valley and watch tech evolve." Dylan is kind enough to give my 8 year old son, Jake, a huge shout out as he also has content creator aspirations and is working on his business plan when not in his 3rd grade class! Thank you Shout out to Guy Kawasaki as a future BOSS recommendation guest. This is 100% a MUST MUST watch and check out https://dylanhuey.me/ for all things Dylan. #influencer #contentcreator #data #tech #inspiration #future

If I don't get into digital now, I'm going to miss the boat...I really aggressively pursued moving into digital media""I host a podcast called "Moms Exit Interview" and it's about moms choosing career paths that work for them and finding flexibility and fulfillment.""A lot of the impetus of leaving a great media career was saying I really want more flexibility. That's not just like I have a Dr.'s appointment on Thursday, can I go, it's like I don't want to ask someone for permission and I started meeting a lot of other moms that felt the same way."Watch until the end for incredible tips and check out more BOSS episodes.
