There Is A Friend Who Sticks Closer Than A Brother

Jesus told His disciples, “Greater love has no man than this than to lay down his life for his friends.” Scripture also tells us that, “One will hardly die for a righteous person; though perhaps for the good person someone would even dare to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” What peace it should bring us to know that Jesus—a friend of the lowly—died for us, intercedes for us, helps us in our weakness, knows our suffering, and shows compassion to those who need Him most. As the song goes, “What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear. What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer.”
