then Comes Marriage🤷🏾‍♀️

First comes love, then comes marriage. Now what?! There’s so much negativity when it comes to love & relationships - specifically between Black men and Black women - that we want to highlight positive love stories and experiences. In this episode Kisha, Lena, and friend to the show J discuss love, marriage, and everything in between as callers share their experiences with love and marital bliss. TELL US: Why is marriage hard work? If you have a movie, TV show, Netflix original or topic you want us to discuss, send us a DM and we’ll shout you out in the review - the blacker the show or movie, the better the chances that we’ll actually check it out. xoxo, Lena & Kisha (and sometimes J)! Power Book II: Ghost S1E1 - The Stranger

Lena and Kisha discuss and kinda recap Power Book II: Ghost Season 1 Episode 1 - The Stranger. This Power “spin-off” feels a lot like the original show, but brings in several new characters including attorney Davis Maclean (Method Man) and a wife of a former drug kingpin, Monet (Mary J. Blige). Tariq St. Patrick’s life is flipped upside down after the murder of his father. We follow Tariq as he tries to cope with his new life and juggle his two worlds - being a college student and the child of political hopeful and the biggest gatdamn drug dealer in New York, James “Ghost” St. Patrick. After a brief moment of hope, Tasha is still in jail awaiting her trial and protecting Tariq. We can’t wait to see how the new character stories develop and progress. TELL US: Which new Power II character are you most interested in? Talk Yo Shit Kish! (and Lena)

Kisha missed ya’ll so much she wanted to drop in and do a quick chit chat episode - so, here we are. In this BONUS episode Lena and Kisha discuss what may or may NOT be the next show recap on the podcast, #Netflixsoblack, feminine health and fertility, big DICK energy (it’s not what you - or Lena - think it is), lousy lays, and all things ratchet with a side of tea, shade, and lemonade. Ayyyye! TELL US: Share your thoughts on the tea we served. What do you think we should podcast next? If you have a movie, TV show, or Netflix original you want us to review, send us a DM and we’ll shout you out in the review - the blacker the show or movie, the better the chances that we’ll actually check it out. xoxo, Lena & Kisha! Netflix Original - Fatal Affair

Lena & Kisha kinda discuss Netflix Original black ass movie Fatal Affair staring fine ass Nia Long and thick ass DILF Omar Epps. We spent the entire episode of this podcast trying to figure out what in the entanglement hell is going on in this movie. This movie has all the ingredients for a pretty enjoyable yet predictable story: beautiful successful woman, dry ass marriage, old friend from college with stalking tendencies, and dumb friend. VERDICT: If you enjoy basic Lifetime movies - like Lena - chances are you loved this movie. BUT if you need a little more depth to your storylines and believable acting - like Kisha - then even the fine ass black people in the cast won’t save this movie for you. TELL US: How many bottles of wine did it take you to make it through this movie? If you have a movie, TV show, or Netflix original you want us to review, send us a DM and we’ll shout you out in the review - the blacker the show or movie, the better the chances that we’ll actually check it out. xoxo, Lena & Kisha! Insecure S4E10 - Lowkey Lost

Lena & Kisha recap and discuss Insecure S4 E10 - Lowkey Lost. Baaaaaabyyyyy, there is so much to unpack here that all the likka in all the stores couldn’t have prepared us for this insurmountable pile of dirty diapers dropped on us - and LawrIssa. This BONUS episode of Insecure finds us in an alternate reality where Condolavirus proves she is not only the gift that keeps on giving, but she’s also apparently with ALL the shits. After Lawrence and Issa find their happiness with each other and commit to a possible future together this bit...I mean, Canola Oil pops up and let’s us know that not only does Lawrence have poor dick control, he’s also not the “nice guy” husband material he portrays himself to be when he responds to her unexpected unplanned and unwanted - by Lawrence - pregnancy. Lawrence reveals the news to Issa following a night long journey to track down Tiffany after she runs away to get a break from her new mommy duties. Molly takes Drew to a work function which becomes the catalyst for them to finally discuss their struggles. TELL US: What’s next for our favorite crew? How will Issa & Lawrence work their way through the big news? Will we meet Simone’s real dad next season? Has the friendship between Issa & Molly been mended and rekindled? Can we get more than comedy from Kelli? If you have a movie, TV show, or Netflix original you want us to review, send us a DM and we’ll shout you out in the review - the blacker the show or movie, the better the chances that we’ll actually check it out. xoxo, Lena & Kisha! Insecure S4E9 - Lowkey Tryin’

Lena & Kisha recap and discuss HBO’s Insecure S4 E9 - Lowkey Tryin’. Starting back where we left off last episode Issa & Lawrence have continued to get it in over the last few weeks. They are exploring their new selves with each other and are really enjoying what they are finding - and we enjoyed watching. A meet up with fine ass Nathan has the potential to cause issues as Issa struggles with finding a way to keep things “casually friendly” between them, but Lawrence remains unbothered. Molly’s therapist unsuccessfully tries to subtly convince salt truck Molly to consider a different approach when dealing with people who have wronged her, but as usual, Molly can’t see the wrong in her ways. As Issa’s relationship with Lawrence is growing closer, Issa and Molly seem to be heading for a permanent break up thanks to Molly’s Twitter fingers sending unintended mean girl texts to the wrong person. TELL US: It looks like Issa has a choice to make: will she pick sexy ass husband material Lawrence or fine ass Nathan (or both #lightanddark)? Will they find LaToya before the season ends? If you have a movie, TV show, or Netflix original you want us to review, send us a DM and we’ll shout you out in the review - the blacker the show or movie, the better the chances that we’ll actually check it out. xoxo , Lena & Kisha! Insecure S4E8 - Lowkey Happy

We don’t know where they go from here, but THIS is the episode we have ALL been waiting for - and when we say ALL, we mean Lena. When Lawrence reaches out to Issa to meet up for drinks we don’t know what to expect, but it’s all love and good vibes when they’re together. They catch up on life, talk about their career goals, dreams, and aspirations, and get closure regarding their past mistakes. In a night that never ends, LawrIssa LITERALLY walk on cloud nine. There aren’t enough words to describe the chemistry, love, and passion between these two characters - shout out to the beautiful Issa Rae and amazing Jay Ellis for the heat they bring this episode! His corny matches her corny, his swag elevates her awkward, and her beauty meets his sexy. THEY ARE THEE PERFECT TV COUPLE. By the end of the night, a more mature and all grown up Issa and Lawrence both find their happy place and we, the viewing audience, are blessed with a “happy ending.” In all the #blacklove and beauty of this episode, it’s hard to tell whether we watched an old couple fall back in love, or two people gain the closure they need to leave their past behind and truly open their hearts to new love. TELL US: Does Lawrence/Issa want that old thang back? Do you want to see LawrIssa rekindle their love? Have you ever experienced a new love with an old lover? If you have a movie, TV show, or Netflix original you want us to review, send us a DM and we’ll shout you out in the review - the blacker the show or movie, the better the chances that we’ll actually check it out. xoxo, Lena & Kisha! Insecure S4 E7 - Lowkey Trippin’

Once again, we miss Issa and the crew, BUT Molly and Drew really held things down in this episode. Following the altercation with Issa after the Block Party our new fav couple gets a change of scenery. We are like flies on a wall during their first “baecation” to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico with Drew’s brother, Victor, and his wife, Lydia. The trip is a blast from the start with Molly - maybe - joining the mile high club en route to Mexico. But salt truck Molly made an appearance when she had a disagreement with an overzealous, and possibly - well, likely - racist hotel employee. Molly takes it a step too far when she proves anyone can get them words by going toe-to-toe with Drew’s brother, Mr. Devil’s Advocate. Drew is the real MVP in this episode. Not only does he eat the cake like groceries, Drew also remains level-headed and unbothered through it all and manages to diffuse a few salt dumps from Molly so that everyone can have a good time, even if they have to do so separately. In a brief moment of clarity, Molly reaches out to her therapist for an emergency session when she realizes she’s being too petty and having trouble letting things go. Sexy ass Lawrence who’s been MIA for about 2 months makes a quick - and delicious - appearance looking like an entire snack thanks to his fresh lining and steady income. TELL US: Drew seems to have the patience of a Saint, but will Molly push him away? Will we see a rekindled love affair between Lawrence and Issa next episode? And WTF is LaToya?! If you have a movie, TV show, or Netflix original you want us to review, send us a DM and we’ll shout you out in the review - the blacker the show or movie, the better the chances that we’ll actually check it out. xoxo, Lena & Kisha! Insecure S4 E6 - Lowkey Done

Lena & Kisha recap and discuss Insecure Season 4 Episode 6 - Lowkey Done. An avoidant Issa does a bit of self-reflection, literally - Mirror B!tch is her only friend this episode, following the blow up with Molly. On a one person “self-less tour” across Los Angeles, Issa tries to prove that she’s not a selfish drama filled mess that uses people. She attempts some random acts of kindness and finds herself in some hilariously awkward interactions with a few strangers - and baby, we are here for them all! When the tour fails, Issa pops up on her mama’s doorstep looking for some love and “good vibes only.” Issa holds it down in this solo episode, but we are definitely missing the crew. Kelli came through with a few jokes and advises Issa to reach out to Molly. TELL US: Is Issa’s “selfless tour” an admission of guilt that maybe she thinks there is some truth to the things Molly said? Is the Issa/Molly friendship worth trying to salvage? If you have a movie, TV show, or Netflix original you want us to review, send us a DM and we’ll shout you out in the review - the blacker the show or movie, the better the chances that we’ll actually check it out. xoxo, Lena & Kisha!
