44 Years in the Booth: Hokies Legend Mike Burnop on Frank Beamer & Lane Stadium

Virginia Tech Sports Network Analyst Mike Burnop joins Dylan on Episode 35 of Between 2 GoalPosts for an inside look at a legendary broadcasting career.

Currently in his 44th consecutive season without missing a single game, Burnop shares what it was like to witness the entirety of the Frank Beamer era—from watching Beamer play, to sitting in on his hiring and retirement press conferences. Burnop breaks down the electric atmosphere of the 1999 National Championship run with Michael Vick, recounts Lane Stadium's loudest games, and explains the grueling preparation required for a six-hour college football broadcast. Aspiring broadcasters will also want to tune in for his masterclass on getting reps, building booth chemistry, and how a tape-recorded audition in Winston-Salem launched his incredible career.
