Balance Documentary Discussion #1
This is the first of our four part discussion reviewing the Balance Documentary series on Amazon. And, WOW, it is SO worth the watch! Balance is a project from female Jain monks Sadhvi Siddhali Shree and Sadhvi Anubhuti. They are nearing their forties and realizing that something is changing, but they've never heard of perimenopause before! They travel across the US to interview physicians, specialists, celebrities, and family members to try and unravel this peri mystery. Their goal is to educate other women about this major life event, make sure we're using facts to make informed decisions about our healthcare, and hopefully get some relief for themselves. Note: It appears that this documentary cannot be purchased on Amazon from Canada. Tammy tried going through the US Amazon website, and using a US credit card, but it would not allow her to proceed based on her location. If you are not located in the United States, check the Balance website at https://balancedocuseries.com/ to find alternative streaming options. Danielle is drinking Ripe Pursuit, an NA Lemon Radler from Athletic Brewing Company. Tammy is drinking Abbott Ale from Greene King Brewing. Feeling Feminine in the Workplace
In this episode, we're talking about feeling feminine in the workplace, especially when your job requires a lot of physical labor. What is the point? Is there a point? What do we do and wear to feel "feminine"? But along those lines, why does women's workwear really suck? Is there a double standard between how men and women in the fermented beverage industry look while doing their job, and do women need to worry about unwanted attention from men? Also creepy creepers and feel-good compliments from other ladies. Danielle is drinking an NA Grapefruit Radler from Clausthaler. Tammy is drinking a Kellerbier from Hacker-Pschorr. Recommendations of IG Accounts to follow: The Peri Pals, JustBeingMelani, Batsyhead PS Dovetail Workwear WE LOVE YOU and would not say no to a sponsorship :)
What even IS Perimenopause?
In this episode we delve into the wonderful world of perimenopause. Just kidding; it's awful! We'll go over what is from a medical perspective, the symptoms, how to manage the symptoms, learn if any treatment is available, and just commiserate. And animals, they're just like us! We're also enjoying some NA beers for this episode. Danielle is drinking Ripe Pursuit, an NA Lemon Radler from Athletic Brewing Company Tammy is drinking Tresette, an NA Italian Pilsner from Harmon's Craft Brewing. Recommendation: Music videos for "Carried Away" by Passion Pit and "Psycho Killer" (the updated version) by Talking Heads. Who are we? What are we doing?
Welcome to our first episode! We are spending this next hour or so talking about what brought us to the fermented beverage industry, what we did with our lives before that, and what we're going through now. Perimenopause is real, but why doesn't anyone talk about it? Or tell us it's coming? Danielle is drinking Hella Pink, a Helles from Ferndale Project in Ferndale, MI. Tammy is drinking a Westmalle Tripel from Westmalle, Belgium. Recommendation: Baroness von Sketch Perimenopause; find it on YouTube or CBC Gem in Canada.
LIVE from Detroit's Full Measure Brewing!
Bonus
Explicit
This bonus episode was recorded live on May 3, 2026 at Full Measure Brewing Co. in Detroit's Eastern Market neighborhood. It was the release of their women's collaboration beer, Lady Obsidian Black IPA; the final farewell to Fermenta, a women's professional organization based in Michigan supporting those in the fermentation industry; and of course, the kickoff of our podcast! To celebrate our new baby podcast, we interviewed some of our friends to get their thoughts on perimenopause, and fair warning, they were very open and honest! You will hear some coarse language and personal stories from these ladies on what their experience has been like. We also spent the day partaking in beer, so as the interviews went on, well, we became more tipsy. Also a note, that if you are listening and not watching, there was a point during Emily's interview when we had the lights turned off on us!
