Episode notes

More than 3.1 million visa-overstay leads. 104,049 of them flagged as possible national security or public safety threats. Fewer than 500 investigations. Eight arrests. Those are the Homeland Security inspector general's own numbers for how ICE handled people who came on a visa and never left from late 2020 through 2024, per the report, Newsweek and DHS's own release. Of the highest-priority group, about 1,800 people, there were 84 investigations and two arrests. The inspector general: "ICE conducted few nonimmigrant overstay lead-initiated investigations and arrested even fewer foreign nationals." Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin: "The degree of the Biden administration's dereliction of duty, which needlessly put American lives at risk, is staggering and enraging." 104,000 red flags and eight arrests. That is not a border. That is a revolving door with a welcome mat. Chuck reads the report, as reported by Breitbart News and Newsweek.

Also in today's episode: Phil Collins tells Piers Morgan the president is "nasty" and says he has an unwritten song about America called "Fat People with Guns," per Fox News; President Trump's September 29 executive order tells federal agencies to say "super intelligence" instead of "artificial intelligence," and Elon Musk says SpaceXAI becomes SpaceXSI, per Fox Business; a Harvard CAPS/Harris poll of 2,200 registered voters finds 82% support photo ID to vote and 79% proof of citizenship, including 73% and 66% of Democrats, per the pollster; Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent tells The Axios Show that Iran "will have no oil on the water this week" and scores it "U.S. about 1.1 billion, Iran zero," per Breitbart News, while Tehran says the Strait of Hormuz stays closed until its conditions are met; Brazil's first round sends Senator Flavio Bolsonaro (47%) and President Lula (45%) to an October 25 runoff, with Bolsonaro's party winning 121 lower-house seats, per France 24; the Supreme Court opens its term with Boulder, Colorado's climate suit against Suncor and ExxonMobil, and Justice Kavanaugh points to "a wall of precedent" that interstate pollution is federal law, per Colorado Public Radio; a worker at Russia's Anti-Plague Research Institute near Irkutsk dies of what officials call "pneumonia of unknown etiology," about 200 people are under observation, and Secretary Rubio says the U.S. is "watching and monitoring it closely," per CBS News and NBC News; Chris Rock says the problem with wokeness is "we're in the Old Testament right now, and the Old Testament has no forgiveness," per TheWrap; and Cornell's own 2025 survey finds 35% of undergraduate women report nonconsensual sexual contact since arriving, up from 23% two years earlier, per ABC News, as the fraternity case goes to a special prosecutor with no one yet charged.
