Ecclesiastes 1:2-11
Psalm 90:3-6, 12-14, 17 (final two lines)
Luke 9:7-9
A man can stay busy his whole life and still need to ask what all that work is for. Ecclesiastes makes me face how much comes and goes, even when it feels terribly important at the time. Then the psalm asks God to teach us to count our days and establish the work of our hands. That gives me somewhere to take the question. I can ask for wisdom about the work in front of me, the people depending on me, and the things I ought to stop chasing. Herod wanted to see Jesus. I want my own interest to carry me further than curiosity, into listening closely enough that something in my life changes.
