Daily Reading

Proverbs 30:5-9

Psalm 119:29, 72, 89, 101, 104, 163

Luke 9:1-6

Enough can be a hard thing to ask for when I’ve got my mind set on more. The prayer in Proverbs asks for food, honesty, and a heart that won’t forget God when the cupboard is full. That’s a prayer worth sitting with before making the next plan. There’s danger in letting what I lack become an excuse for wrongdoing, and danger in letting what I have convince me I don’t need anybody. These readings bring me back to daily provision and trust in the God who sends us. The disciples still had work to do. They just had to learn that carrying more wasn’t what gave them the power to do it.
