Uncanny Treks: Adam-Legend of the Blue Marvel (2009, Comic)

Before there was a Blue Marvel, there was Adam Brashear — and a secret America tried to bury. Bob and Matt dig into Kevin Grevioux's five-issue origin of Marvel's mightiest forgotten hero: a Korean War vet and physics PhD whose 1960s heroics ended when JFK asked him to stand down. They unpack the Anti-Man rematch that drags him back, the racial politics at the story's core, and why this book hits harder than most 'lost hero' tales. Powerful stuff.

Uncanny Treks: Aliens vs. Avengers (2024, Comic)

Hickman's last Avengers story — and it's against Xenomorphs. Bob and Matt dive into the 2024 miniseries that pits Earth's Mightiest against the perfect organism, with Esad Ribic's painterly carnage and a far-future timeline where the Avengers are older, darker, and losing. They geek out over the 'alien-up the Avengers' mashups, debate the bleakest Hickman ending yet, and ask the big question: who falls first? Game over, man — maybe.

Uncanny Treks: Secret Wars Pt. 2 (2015, Comic)

God Emperor Doom vs. everybody. Bob and Matt finish Secret Wars as Reed Richards and the survivors of the old multiverse make their final play against Doom's Battleworld. They debate whether the ending sticks the landing, celebrate the wildest Battleworld domains, and close the book on Hickman's Marvel epic. Years in the making, and it comes down to family. The verdict: worth the journey.

Uncanny Treks: Secret Wars Pt. 1 (2015, Comic)

The Marvel Universe is dead — long live Battleworld. Bob and Matt begin Hickman's Secret Wars, the nine-issue event that smashed every reality together and crowned Doctor Doom God Emperor of the patchwork planet left behind. They dig into the audacious setup, the fate of the 616 and Ultimate universes, and Doom's divine reign. It's the biggest swing Marvel ever took, and Matt's been waiting years to talk about it. All hail Doom.

Uncanny Treks: Time Runs Out Vol. 4 (2015, Comic)

This is it — the last issues before the end of everything. Bob and Matt close out Time Runs Out as Hickman's Avengers run reaches its terminus: the Final Incursion, the last stands, and the launchpad into Secret Wars. They take stock of the whole saga, argue about which character paid the highest price, and brace for Battleworld. Four volumes of dread, one epic payoff. Next stop: the end of the world as we know it.

Uncanny Treks: Time Runs Out Vol. 3 (2015, Comic)

Down to the last realities. Bob and Matt hit the third act of Time Runs Out, where the Marvel Universe is one of the final dimensions standing and every choice is a bad one. They dig into the endgame maneuvering, the fates of Tony Stark and Doctor Strange, and the question Hickman's been asking all along: what would you sacrifice to save everything? Heavy stuff, leavened by Bob's gallows humor. Almost there — almost.

Uncanny Treks: Time Runs Out Vol. 2 (2014, Comic)

The clock keeps ticking, and the options keep shrinking. Bob and Matt push deeper into Time Runs Out as the multiverse collapses one incursion at a time and the Avengers splinter into factions hunting each other. They debate whether Hickman's endgame earns its bleakness, savor the cosmic-scale scheming, and try to keep the timelines straight. Matt's whiteboard is full; Bob's just enjoying the ride. The end is nigh, and it's spectacular.

Uncanny Treks: Time Runs Out Vol. 1 (2014, Comic)

Eight months later, everything's broken. Bob and Matt begin the end of Hickman's Avengers saga as Time Runs Out jumps forward to a Marvel Universe where the Avengers are shattered, the Illuminati are exposed, and the Final Incursion is on the calendar. They unpack the Cabal's rise, the team's fragmentation, and the creeping sense that nobody's getting out of this one. The countdown has started, and it's grim. Strap in.

Uncanny Treks: Avengers World (2014, Comic)

While Hickman's main Avengers book went cosmic, this one stayed home — and got weird. Bob and Matt tackle Avengers World, the Hickman-and-Nick-Spencer spinoff that sent the B-team globe-trotting through AIM's new empire, Starbrand's baggage, and Cannonball and Sunspot's excellent adventure. It's the street-level shadow of the Hickman saga, and the hosts can't agree whether it's essential texture or a detour. Verdict: your mileage may vary, but Sunspot steals every scene he's in.

Uncanny Treks: New Avengers 18-23 (2014, Comic)

The Illuminati's bill comes due. Bob and Matt dive into the back half of Hickman's New Avengers, where the incursions keep coming and the secret cabal of Reed Richards, Tony Stark, Black Panther, and company runs out of clean options. They wrestle with the run's ugliest moral question — how many worlds do you let die to save your own? — and Namor's line-crossing answer. Bob respects the ruthlessness; Matt's still mad about it. Nobody's hands stay clean.
