The Book of Proverbs Chapter 1
Proverbs chapter 1 is the doorway to the entire book of wisdom. It introduces us to King Solomon, the writer of most proverbs, and reveals the main purpose — to give wisdom, instruction, and understanding for living a godly and successful life. This chapter contrasts two paths: The path of wisdom — listening to God, parents, and godly counsel. The path of foolishness — following sinners and rejecting correction. The key verse is Proverbs 1:7: “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.” In simple words, true wisdom starts when we reverence and obey God. This chapter is an invitation to every believer to choose God’s wisdom over the world’s way.
