Episode notes
In this episode of Zero Signal, Jay sits down with biblical scholar Dr. Ronn Johnson for a deep dive into the Divine Council worldview and the supernatural framework behind Scripture.
Dr. Johnson’s research explores the connection between the gods of the Old Testament and what Paul later calls rulers, authorities, principalities and powers. A longtime friend and colleague of the late Dr. Michael S. Heiser, Ronn now co-hosts The Divine Council Worldview Podcast and serves on the board of the Michael S. Heiser Foundation.
We get into:
• Genesis 6 and the Nephilim • The identity of the “sons of God” • What really happened at the Tower of Babel • Deuteronomy 32 and the gods assigned to the nations • Psalm 82 and the Divine Council • Paul’s principalities and powers • Demons, fallen spiritual beings and supernatural rebellion • Whether certain locations can function as sacred or supernatural geography • How Jesus begins reclaiming the nations from hostile powers • What the cross actually accomplished • Salvation, faith and allegiance • And the difficult question: How should Christians understand the relationship between Jesus and Yahweh?
