Yango Unraveled EP5 | Fredrick Mwepu | From Curiosity to Innovation: Fredrick Mwepu’s Award-Winning STEM Journey
Episode notes
What can happen when a curious mind is given the opportunity to build?
For Fredrick Mwepu, a childhood fascination with taking things apart to understand how they worked eventually grew into RoboCore Zambia, a locally developed robotics platform designed to make practical STEM education more accessible and affordable.
On this week’s episode of Yango Unraveled, Thapiwa Ngoma sits down with Fredrick to unpack his journey from being selected as one of just 24 fellows from more than 600 applicants for the Yango Fellowship 2026, to developing his idea through the 12-week programme, travelling to Abidjan and ultimately winning the Best Individual Project award.
He also opens up about his passion for practical STEM education, the inspiration behind RoboCore and why he believes young people shouldn't wait for the “right age” to start making an impact.
From breaking toys to building solutions, catch Fredrick’s story on the latest episode of Yango Unraveled.
