Episode notes
As Singapore prepares for warmer weather and a potentially more intense dry season, Part 1 of this episode on weather-related workplace risks discusses how conditions such as rising temperatures, heavy rain, lightning, strong winds and haze are becoming a growing workplace safety and health concern.
Hear from Ms Jaime Lim, Director, Major Hazards Department and OSH Specialist Department, Occupational Safety and Health Division, Ministry of Manpower; Dr Jason Lee Kai Wei, Director, Heat Resilience and Performance Centre, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore; and Mr Lee Sai Yin, Deputy General Manager, VICO Construction Pte Ltd, on how workplaces can better prepare for adverse weather risks.
They share why heat stress should not be seen as โjust hot weatherโ, how thermal discomfort can affect productivity and safety, and what employers can do to protect workers through better planning, acclimatisation, hydration, rest breaks, shade and real-time weather monitoring.
Hear practical insights on how companies can be better prepared, build resilience, and keep workers safe as weather conditions become more unpredictable.
