Twenty years ago on Tuesday, Samuel Flippen was the last person killed under North Carolina’s death penalty. He was convicted of killing his girlfriend’s daughter. Since then, advocates have been pushing for the punishment to be formally abolished. Noel Nickle, from the North Carolina Coalition for Alternatives to the Death Penalty, joined Jeff Hamlin to discuss the anniversary.
