Season 3

Grieving Dad | All the "firsts" after loss and an update on S4

Hi everyone, Thank you for joining me for this final episode of season three. We discuss some of the 'firsts' I've experienced since Dad went home to be with Jesus, some secular resources that have beautifully articulated some of the emotions I've experienced over the past few months and the delicate process of parting ways with friends or family during this time. We also outline the plan for season four, which will consist of much shorter episodes, but with greater frequency. In a nutshell, they'll consist of scripture reading and a devotion - without my clumsy and at times, unwieldy commentary and interpretations. We'll work through the Holy Bible verse-by-verse - the Old Testament and New Testament in parallel and I'll provide some useful resources, both audio and visual that will help you study the scriptures far better than I ever could. I pray that this final episode and the coming season is a blessing to you. God bless you, friends.

Grieving Dad | When it hits like a sucker punch

Hey friends, I'm very thankful that you could join me for another Withstand Podcast episode as I continue to navigate my season of grief. Dad passed away just over five months ago, but in many ways, it still feels like it happened just days ago. Today, I talk about how grief can hit like a sucker punch (in Australia, we call it a coward's punch / king-hit) on days when we're otherwise on auto-pilot, functioning as best we can. As CS Lewis points out, grief can often feel like fear and it can knock the wind out of your sails without warning - and sometimes without an actual storm. I pray that my warblings and musings are a blessing to you. If you make it all the way to the end, I commend you for your patience! Grieving Dad | Keeping the faith through the fatigue

Hey Friends, How are you all doing? I know it's been a while since the last episode, but I'm so glad you could join me for today's focus on grief fatigue, recorded around 4.5 months after my dad - and the better half of this podcast - went home to be with the Lord and reunite with my mum. This episode shines a spotlight on some of the things that tire us out during seasons of deep grief, including but not limited to life admin, situations and sometimes, people who don't seem to 'get it'. It's all a bit exhausting and if I'm honest, I'm still trying to navigate the fatigue myself. But with God's grace, wisdom and strength, I know that I'm being carried by the Holy Spirit and I pray that you also feel His presence as you navigate your own personal season/s of grief. Here are some super handy resources that I cover in this episode: 'It's okay not to be okay' a sermon by Pastor Larry McCarthy via YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6kwg-7HeXNI Recognising and dealing with grief fatigue, a blog by Everett Christian Counselling: https://everettchristiancounseling.com/recognizing-and-dealing-with-grief-fatigue/ 'Even in laughter the heart may ache' a blog by GotQuestions, clarifying the meaning of Proverbs 14:13 https://www.gotquestions.org/even-in-laughter-the-heart-may-ache.html Bible Study Notes by Dr Thomas Constable. We read through Revelation, Chapter 7 during this episode: https://soniclight.com/tcon/notes/pdf/revelation.pdf Contact Withstand: My DMs and InBox are always open :) Instagram - @withstandpod Email - withstandpod@gmail.com God bless you, guys.
