Learning to Abide When I Can’t Perform: “God Said Remain… and I Don’t Know How”

There’s a part of growth no one can measure. No reps. No steps. No data. And for me… that’s where everything started to unravel. After an injury took me out of training, I expected to adjust, modify, push through. Instead, I was met with something I wasn’t prepared for: Stillness. And not just physical stillness… but the loss of the place I had learned to find myself-through output, progress, and performance. In this episode, I’m not speaking from the other side of it. I’m in it. Still learning. Still reaching. Still… producing. And realizing in real time that this isn’t just about discipline- it’s about attachment to output as a source of stability. We explore: Why losing progress can feel disorienting (even if you’re “strong”) The deeper meaning of “abide” (John 15:4) The parable of growth happening unseen (Mark 4:27–28) The neuroscience of integration, neural consolidation, and healing without output And what it looks like to stay present… when you can’t measure anything This isn’t a message about doing more. It’s about learning to remain- even when you don’t know how yet. 🌿 Root. 🌿 Then stalk. 🌿 Then fruit. Let’s build. Be love… and be loved, Beloved. Missy | Mama's Ministries

Through the Consent of a Woman - Why Heaven Waits for a Woman’s Yes

There’s a pattern in Scripture that most people never notice. Every time a woman cries out to God… something shifts. Hannah prays - and a prophet is born. Esther fasts - and a nation is saved. A bleeding woman reaches through a crowd - and power leaves Jesus instantly. But the most astonishing moment of all happens in Luke 1:38. Mary says: “Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word.” And in that moment, the impossible happens. The Word becomes flesh… through the consent of a woman. In this teaching, Missy explores the deeper Kingdom pattern of receiving - why Scripture repeatedly shows heaven moving through the feminine posture of surrender, and why the Church itself is called the Bride. But this episode is also deeply personal. After a season that forced her to slow down, Missy shares the humbling realization that while she has spent much of her life operating in strength, striving, and building, she is now being taught something far more difficult: how to receive. Through Scripture, theology, and personal reflection, this teaching explores: • Mary and the overshadowing of the Holy Spirit • the connection between Genesis creation and incarnation • why the Church is called the Bride • the sacred pause of Selah • and the spiritual capacity required to receive what heaven has already spoken. Sometimes the greatest miracles don’t begin with striving. Sometimes they begin with a single word: Yes. Selah. Let’s build. Be love, and be loved, Beloved.

The Cinderella Principle - How Identity Reveals Itself

Sometimes the chapter of your life that looks the least like the outcome… is actually the one right before the reveal. In this episode of Mama’s Ministries, I share the unexpected symbolism that unfolded during this prep season — a journey marked by injury, recovery, and learning to move forward one careful step at a time. From a mouth infection and allergic reaction, to a displaced rib I’m still healing, to tearing my calf and hobbling around on what feels like a peg leg, this season has been anything but glamorous. And yet somehow, the details of my stage look began forming around a theme I didn’t plan — glass-slipper heels, a turquoise suit, and a last-minute transformation that feels a lot like Cinderella. But this episode isn’t really about fairy tales. It’s about the deeper pattern we see in Scripture, neuroscience, and personal transformation — where identity forms long before the world ever sees the reveal. Ashes before beauty. Preparation before revelation. Dust before the crown. And sometimes… a peg leg before the glass slipper. Let’s build. Be love and be loved, Beloved.

UNDER THE BROOM TREE: 1 Kings 19 - The Prophet Who Needed Sleep

Sometimes the strongest people are the ones God has to stop. After victory on Mount Carmel, the prophet Elijah collapsed under a broom tree and asked to die. Instead of rebuking him, God gave him something unexpected: Sleep. Food. And silence. In this episode, Missy explores the psychology and theology of forced rest - through the lens of injury, athletic identity, and the biblical story of Elijah. When your body breaks down, when your plans stall, when movement becomes impossible… it may not be failure. It may be a healing chamber. This conversation explores: • why high performers struggle with stillness • the nervous system science of recovery • Elijah’s divine prescription: eat, sleep, walk • the difference between quitting and being recalibrated • how rest becomes preparation for the next assignment Because sometimes God doesn’t strengthen the warrior. Sometimes He lays the warrior down. And the quiet place becomes the place where strength is rebuilt.

Training the Body with the Mind

What if you could train… even when your body can’t move? In this episode of Mama’s Ministries, an injury forced me off the gym floor and back into something we explored during Presence Prep: embodiment through imagination. While sidelined on the couch, I ran my entire workout mentally - rep by rep, set by set - using the same weights and tempo from my last session. The result? My mind stayed almost perfectly on pace with the workout my app projected. Neuroscience calls this motor imagery - the brain activating many of the same pathways during vivid mental rehearsal as it does during physical movement. But Scripture has been pointing to this inner alignment all along: “Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” - Epistle to the Romans 12:2 “First clean the inside of the cup… and the outside will be clean also.” - Gospel of Matthew 23:26 Sometimes transformation starts inside first. Mind. Machine. Marrow. Let’s build. Be love and be loved, Beloved.

Made to Lie Down

Athletes are taught how to train through pain - but almost no one teaches us how to recover through it.Sometimes growth doesn’t come through pushing harder. Sometimes it comes when the body - and life - makes you stop. In this episode of Mama’s Ministries, I share the story of another unexpected injury during prep: a torn calf muscle that forced me to sit on the mat and face a hard reality - this season may not be about training harder… but learning how to recover. We talk about what happens when your nervous system compensates for injury, how athletes learn to override pain signals, and why presence matters in both lifting and healing. Because just because you counted the rep… doesn’t mean the rep counts. This episode explores the intersection of athletic training, neuroscience, and Scripture, including the deeper meaning of Psalm 23: “He makes me lie down in green pastures.” What if the interruption in your life isn’t punishment… but preparation? What if the version of you being built right now isn’t the one who pushes harder - but the one who learns how to trust, rest, and receive? If you are building your body and your belief at the same time… this conversation is for you. Let’s build. Be love. And be loved, Beloved.

The Version of Me I Haven’t Met Yet

This one’s personal. I’m in a true build season for the first time - no deficit, no shrinking, just slow intentional growth. And as someone who was once obese, putting on weight (even strategically) messes with old wiring. Now I have to step on stage mid-build to qualify for nationals - not dieting, not cutting - just trusting. This episode is about becoming a version of yourself you’ve never met before. The calm. The stretch. The identity shift. The faith it takes to move forward without gripping control. Wherever your stage is - you’re not alone. Let’s build.

Integrate The Win

What happens when the plan changes seven weeks out from a show? In this episode, I share what a slipped rib taught me about control, competition, and true strength. Being temporarily sidelined in the middle of prep forced me to confront something deeper than conditioning: my attachment to control. This isn’t about losing progress. It’s about learning union. We explore Psalm 90 - “Teach us to number our days” - not as fear, but as embodied wisdom. We talk about what it means to compete without disconnecting from your body… and why stepping on stage fractured isn’t victory - it’s performance without communion. If you’ve ever had your timeline disrupted, your momentum interrupted, or your body ask for a slower pace - this episode is for you. The goal isn’t to get back to 100. The goal is to integrate the win. Let’s build.

When the Plan Falls Apart | It Is Finished | Pruned, Not Punished

In this episode of Mama’s Ministries, I share a personal season of interruption - shoulder pain, infection, identity shifts, and hearing words no athlete wants to hear. What happens when your body doesn’t cooperate with the plan? What if the setback is not punishment… but pruning? We explore: • The physiology of adaptation • Nervous system shutdown and numbness • Identity beyond aesthetics • “It is finished” - Tetelestai • Why pruning removes good wood, not dead wood If you’re an athlete navigating injury, delay, identity shifts, or spiritual refinement - this episode is for you. Train with intention. Recover with trust. Adapt with awareness. Let’s build. Be love. And be loved, Beloved.
