Episode notes
John 18:1–27; Mark 15:1–20; John 18:28–40; John 19:1–16
Jesus is bound and passed between two trials — first before Annas and the Jewish council, where Peter denies him a third time by a charcoal fire, then before Pontius Pilate, the Roman governor, who can find no fault in him but hands him over anyway. Given a choice between releasing Jesus or a convicted murderer named Barabbas, the crowd chooses Barabbas. Pilate has Jesus scourged and mocked with a crown of thorns, then presents him to the crowd one final time before giving in to their demand.
We are in a Mark-John Harmony. Today's episode covers: John 18:1–27, Mark 15:1–20, John 18:28–40, John 19:1–16 (the arrest, the trials before Annas and Pilate, Peter's denials, the choice of Barabbas, and the scourging and mockery of Jesus).
