#96 Set Fire to the Self You Took From Others

You believe a person has a core. An 'I' that stands behind all actions, untouched. This belief is your deepest illness. It makes you search for a ghost, and then call the emptiness you find 'meaning.'

Look at what you call a friend, a lover, a parent. You have never touched them. You have only ever touched the shape they take in your hands. And that shape, which you mistake for them, was carved by your needing.

So when you cry out, 'I want to know the real you,' you are asking for something that does not exist. Good. Take that as your first truth.
