We treat understanding like a checklist. Read the book, extract the key points, share the insight. Move on. But the most important things in life — love, grief, the experiences that reshaped you — you never really 'got' them. They got you. And they're still working on you, years later, without explanation.

The things you can package into a sentence and pass along are the things that never truly touched you. The deep stuff stays unresolved because it's alive, and life doesn't come with a placard. That perpetual lingering isn't a failure to finish. It's the only genuine education.
