#66 You Inherited Nothing — Now Build or Rot
Episode notes
Most of the hardest questions in life — how to handle loss, how to face getting older, what you owe the people who raised you — used to be solved problems. Not solved by philosophers. Solved by repetition. Families doing the same things for long enough that the answer calcified into habit, and habit into instinct.
That inheritance is mostly gone now. Lives change too fast between generations for the old answers to transfer cleanly. So each person is quietly re-solving problems that have already been solved — just not in a form they can reach.
The strange tax of living in an era of rapid change isn't just uncertainty about the future. It's that you also lose access to certainty about the past — including the parts that were actually figured out.
