Graham Parker began his recording career in 1976 with Howlin’ Wind, backed by The Rumour, quickly establishing himself as one of the leading figures of the UK pub-rock and early new-wave era. Over the next five years, Graham Parker and The Rumour released a run of albums including Heat Treatment, Stick to Me, The Up Escalator, and Squeezing Out Sparks, all of which charted in the UK, with several reaching the Top 40, while Squeezing Out Sparks became his highest-profile release in the United States and his strongest performer on the Billboard 200.
