The mistrust was born from an offhand comment. An observation about some strange behavior that no one would even remember later on. Before they knew it, anxiety amongst the group had begun to fester. Paranoia so palpable you could feel it in the air. A powder keg ready to explode. This was made worse by the cold, an unrelenting force that pummeled the outside of their small outpost, keeping them bound in tight quarters. Huddled together, tense and alert, they panicked. Within moments, blood was spilled and lives were lost. Nothing would remain.
