We get into German apartments without closets or kitchens, tiny fridges, cold rent vs. warm rent, electricity bills, very questionable real estate photos, renovating an old German house, and why getting work done can be such a challenge. In this episode, we’re talking all things travel, from summer vacations in Europe to traveling with kids, doing an all-inclusive, taking trains, packing minimally, and finding the hidden gems that you won’t find on a “top 10 places to go” list. We’re two American moms raising families in Germany, and this summer we did travel completely differently. One of us went the more German route with an all-inclusive family vacation in Tunisia, while the other stayed local, took public transportation, explored Germany, and traveled more off the beaten path. We’re talking about what we loved, what we didn’t love, whether all-inclusive vacations are actually worth it, traveling with kids without relying on screens, and why sometimes the best travel experiences come from talking to the people who actually live there. Plus, we’re sharing our best travel tips, including packing minimally, learning a little bit of the local language, navigating public transportation, traveling around German school holidays, painters tape for kids, screen-free entertainment, and the things you absolutely need to have in your bag when traveling with children. Basically, two American moms in Germany trying to figure out how to travel well, spend less, and survive the journey with our kids.
