TNTF Presents Second Chance Points - "Superman Is In The Hall of Fame"
Episode notes
Gavriel and Torrence dig back into the recent archives once again on Second Chance Points to highlight the 18-year career of the man who recently was inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in Dwight Howard.
Where the two reflect back on the massive expectations the eight-time NBA All-Star had on his shoulders after being selected by the Orlando Magic with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2004 NBA Draft straight out of high school (00:50), how Howard managed to leave an indelible mark on the center position in just his first few seasons in the league (07:08) before going on to share what impressed them the most during his 2009 postseason run en route to guiding the Magic to the NBA Finals & capturing his first of three consecutive Defensive Player of the Year awards (13:56).
Including if the peer pressure to be the player fans wanted him to be impacted him in the days leading up to his departure from Orlando following the 2011-12 lockout season (18:55), prior to talking about what it was like to witness Howard take on a sacrificial role during his second stint with the Los Angeles Lakers at the twilight of his career to win an NBA title in 2020 (25:51) and if the former Slam Dunk champion needed a ring to officially cement his place in the hall (30:45).
While also posing the case as to why Howard should have been selected as a member of the NBA's 75th anniversary back in 2021 (31:43) and sharing their all-time favorite games/moments from D12's professional career (32:38).
