But They Said They Loved Meโ€ฆ ๐Ÿ’œ

The Quiet Table with Mr. Hood | Urban Justice Productions

โ€œThey said they loved meโ€ฆ so why did loving them hurt so much?โ€ ๐Ÿ’œ

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and this week at The Quiet Table, we're having one of our most serious and necessary conversations yet.

Behind closed doors, people are fighting battles that the world knows absolutely nothing about. Some are suffering in silence, protecting the very people who are hurting them. Others are trying to understand how someone who claims to love them could also be the person they fear the most.

And domestic violence doesn't discriminate. ๐Ÿ’œ

It happens in heterosexual relationships, LGBTQ+ relationships, marriages, families, and communities where silence is often mistaken for loyalty.

In this powerful episode, Mr. Hood opens the conversation about emotional manipulation, physical abuse, psychological control, intimidation, isolation, and the painful reality of loving someone who is hurting you.

We're asking some uncomfortable but necessary questions:

  • When does love become control?
  • Why do we sometimes protect the people who hurt us?
  • Why are male survivors and LGBTQ+ survivors so often overlooked?
  • How many people are smiling in public while suffering behind closed doors?
  • And how do we create communities where survivors feel safe enough to speak?

This isn't an episode about judging survivors or telling somebody to "just leave." It's about understanding, accountability, compassion, and recognizing that abuse is never an acceptable expression of love.

๐Ÿ’œ Because somebody listening right now might be fighting this very battle, and nobody knows. ๐Ÿ’œ

At Urban Justice Productions, we believe that silence should never be the price of survival.

Pull up a chair, leave the noise, and let's talk about it.
