Episode notes

The Quiet Table With Mr. Hood — Episode 2: “Why Do We Still Watch?”

We say we’re tired of seeing Black people reduced to fighting, disrespect, humiliation, and dysfunction—but somehow, we still tune in.

In “Why Do We Still Watch?”, Mr. Hood pulls up a chair and takes a closer look at our relationship with reality TV, viral drama, and entertainment built around Black conflict. From shows like Baddies and Bad Boys to the clips that dominate our timelines, this episode asks a harder question: when does entertainment stop reflecting the culture and start profiting from its wounds?

This isn’t about judging what anybody watches. It’s about examining what we support, what we normalize, who gets paid from it—and what kind of images we keep handing the next generation.

Because maybe the real question isn’t why do they keep making it?

Why do we still watch?

Pull up a chair, leave the noise, and let’s talk about it.
