The Remix, Diary Entry #5: "Familial expectation"

What's up, family?! I hope you are all doing so well and having an amazing start to May :) Y'all, I'm so excited for this diary entry as it's something that was heavily on my heart and I just thought it was really important to talk about. Navigating expectations from your family is not easy, and sometimes, our family, unintentionally or unknowingly, can cause more pressure than they realize, and it can create fear, resentment, or frustration within ourselves. Truly, I believe that the majority of our loved ones want the best for us and simply don't want us to make the same mistakes they did, but what if they simply let go and trusted that God would not let us fall and that his will is perfect? What if we surrendered our lives to him because his opinion and expectations are truly the only things that matter? We dive deeper into these questions and more in this diary entry, and I pray that God speaks to you in every way that he wants to. I pray that you feel comfort, seen, and understood in this entry, knowing that you're not alone in this journey of navigating life and faith. As always, I am beyond blessed to have all of you as part of my family, and I pray that you remember that God is always near, waiting to be your helper, and he desires nothing more but a relationship with you and for you to come to him and lay everything at his feet. The Remix, Diary Entry #4: "Waiting... and more waiting"

What's up, family?! In this week's diary entry, we're talking about waiting... yeah, we don't like to do much of that, and I know that I definitely don't, but it's so incredibly important to steward good things and the things that matter even in the season of waiting. I've been in a season of waiting for some time now, and it's definitely not easy... it's scary, uneasy, and unpredictable. However, I believe that God has so many words of comfort for us that we have to be open and willing to hear and discern in the season of waiting. God has so much love for us, and He doesn't make us wait because He wants us to suffer not knowing what's to come, but instead, it could be for several things, some of which could be protection, maturity, and discernment. I know I've definitely had my time and continue to have my time with these things, and ultimately, the season of waiting is more valuable than we realize. I pray that you find comfort in this diary entry and that God speaks to you in whatever way that He deems necessary. I pray that you remember that He is always near, waiting to be your helper, and He desires nothing more but a relationship with you and for you to come to Him and lay everything at His feet. I know, it's a heavy topic, but it's so incredibly important to think about and for us to explore together. I thought this was such an important conversation because this is something we go through every day, the constant battle with feeling like we want to be more, like we want more, or like we want direction, but not necessarily knowing what to ground ourselves and our hearts in. This diary entry is meant to help you reflect and explore the question of where you've been placing your heart and where it has been fixed. This story is pivotal to the permanent version of DaAujana that I believe God is calling me into, so I felt that it was necessary to share this story. I also know that so many of you may be going through or may have gone through a similar situation, and I'm here to tell you that you're not alone, and it's okay to walk away from something that isn't aligning with who you are or fueling you to grow closer to God, and instead, doing the opposite. S3 Diary Entry #1: "Life has been Lifing Ooooh"

Ndewo, ezinaụlọ! Ahhhh I missed y'all😭 It has been waaaay too long, but I'm finally back and I'm so excited to be sharing with you guys again. I hope all of you are doing incredibly well and have been showing yourselves lots of love and patience🤎 In this diary entry, I wanted to update y'all on all of the things that have happened since we last spoke(which was in January😗), lol. This semester has been one crazy ride, to say the least, and I have experienced a lot of ups and downs in my emotions, friendships, and just overall life. I wanted to give myself a chance to catch up with y'all and just really be vulnerable and honest about how I've been feeling and just allow all of you to listen and maybe see yourselves in my stories or just relate somehow. I love all of you guys unconditionally and I hope you guys enjoy this diary entry, happy- happy listening🤎🎧

S2 Diary Entry #3: "Chop More Life"

How far ezinaụlọ (trans: family)?! I hope all of you are doing so incredibly well, I missed you guys- it's been a while and I'm really excited to be back and reflecting as much as possible with you all💫 In this week's diary entry, I did a lil recap of my first semester of sophomore year... I reflected on all of the highs and lows of the semester and some of the things that I had to work through and learn from in order to continue to grow within the journey that God has set for me. Last semester was a whirlwind to say the least, but it's definitely one that I wouldn't change for anything(well, maybe a little lol), but overall I'm just really excited for y'all to hear some of the things that have been going on in my life as of recently and also the things that I'm looking forward to in this new season. I am so grateful for every single one of you and I love all of you so so much, happy listening🤎🎧

S2 Diary Entry #2: "Silence is Sacrificial"

What's up, y'all! I missed you guys(as I always do) and I hope that y'all have been doing so so well😘 In this week's spoken word diary entry we will be talking about silence and how both it and sacrifice go hand in hand. We will also be reflecting on what social justice means to us and what it means when it comes to movement work and creating spaces where we as people of color can form our own table, instead of fighting tirelessly for a seat at a table that doesn't welcome us with open arms. The heart of this week's entry stems from my current work with the organization that I have been interning for, No More Tears, and the focus that I have had in regard to dismantling our prison industrial complex, as well as the pathway of young children into the prison system. This complex that we have built with so much anger, shame, and corruption can no longer take our young Black girls and boys... the expectancy of young Black boys going to prison or jail at least once in their life can't continue to increase, as well as the absence of fathers in households of color at the hands of this system can't continue to become routine. We must break it and we must do so together. With all that being said, I hope all of you enjoy this week's entry and please know that I love all of you dearly, happy listening!🤎🎧

Ndewoo y'all! I hope you guys are doing so- so incredibly well😊 It's been a minute, but I'm back with season ✌🏾 of our spoken word diaries, I missed you guys so much and I'm really excited for y'all to listen in and get an update about what's been going on these past few months that I have been away. I hope all of you guys are well and giving yourselves so much love and care, remember you are worth it and that your happiness and wellness are important. Also, please stay healthy(no sickness), I caught the flu a week ago and I am in a one-on-one battle with this cough y'all, it's not fun. Diary Entry #7: "How Do We Love?"

What's up y'all?! I hope all of y'all are doing so well and having such an amazing summer. Can y'all believe that summer is almost over(*tear drop)?! I have to report back to school soon and I don't know how I feel about it, but that's a conversation for later, lol. In this week's diary entry, it's all about how we love and how we choose to express that love. It's similar to the entry about relationships that I talked about with y'all not too long ago, but I think this one specifically focuses on the different things we utilize to measure our worthiness of loving and being loved. Also, how we measure our desirability and our ability to forgive and love ourselves regardless of the past. This entry was inspired by oliSUNvia and her video called "our conception of love is messed up", and I think the way in which she breaks down the different themes regarding love is really powerful, thus it was something that inspired me to do the same.
