Taking action and doing it scared.

How are your "goodwill" accounts looking?

Several years ago, while working for my old boss, I screwed up pretty badly. He ended up laughing and talking to me about my goodwill account and was thankful it was so high so when he had to take a withdrawal, it was still pretty high. It was one of the best analogies that I still use today. It's important to recognize this with all kinds of relationships around you. Some people in your life have depleted their accounts and you need to move them out to make room for the new amazing relationships that will come. Yes Mama, it is ok to have fun too!

The constant call of motherhood, the never-ending list, the dishes in the sink, laundry in the dryer, and endless things to do. It will ALWAYS be there. If you are like me, it's hard to stop being responsible, leave it be, and have fun. My son challenged me on this the other week to have fun on a beautiful day and at first, it was SO annoying. But I finally said yes and I am so glad I did. I wanted to share my experience with you as well and challenge you to do the same! Getting a good "heart check" and loving it!

A couple of weeks ago, I went on a trip across the world to learn a completely different culture, and boy, did it change my heart in the most amazing ways. I don't think you need to go as far as I did, but I do believe there are people in your backyard that you can get to know, learn from, and understand more. Don't let the input or fear of others stop you from loving people who are different from you. It is not always easy, but it can certainly be worth it. In all reality, I thought I was going to be a light to them and change their lives and hearts, but instead, they changed mine even more! Anyone else want to pick your child's significant other? Or is it just me?

During a date night with my husband, we had a fun and hard conversation about how in a short few years, our family of 6 will forever change with girlfriends and boyfriends added into the mix. Of course, we know who would best fit our children right? However, we had to step back and remember that we were also that "unlikely" couple that got together and married. We did not bring equal value into the relationship and it made us step back and realize that imperfect relationships do not define a successful marriage. Do your part as parents to teach and instill core values into your children and the rest is up to them.
