Broadway 2026 Spring Preview with Matt Koplik of Broadway Breakdown

Dylan and Connor are joined by Matt Koplik (Broadway Breakdown) for a thrilling preview of the Broadway 2026 spring season! Their fellow theatre podcaster brings his signature hot takes and witty humor to spotlight the upcoming productions coming to the Main Stem. The boys dish on Death of a Salesman, Giant, Proof, and all of the straight plays on the docket, as well as new musicals and revivals like Schmigadoon, Cats: The Jellicle Ball, and The Rocky Horror Show. They rave about Carrie Coon, Rose Byrne, Jessica Hecht, and all the gals (which should come as no surprise). Listen as they discuss how many cast members from The Gilded Age and The Bear will be treading the boards, the trend of “bringing out the beave,” and for some scuttlebutt about Paddington’s rumored journey across the pond. Will the twink musical of the season (The Lost Boys) prevail? With this trio, you know there’s plenty of early Tony Awards talk throughout about the major categories: musical, actor, actress, and beyond. Some might say this is a breakdown of Broadway. Lilli Cooper’s vocals, performance, and wig are all raved about. Justin burst onto the scene in Kimberly Akimbo, garnering him a nomination for every theatrical award on the planet. He looks back on the show that brought him to the city, what it was like joining the Broadway community at 18 years old, and taking his dad to the Tony Awards. Actual Ring of Keys happens during Ring of Keys. GAG IT. Stick around for commentary about Normal People by Sally Rooney, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, and Bad Bunny’s halftime show. “Obsessed with Gay Sex!” with Brandon Flynn

Connor and Dylan are joined by Brandon Flynn (Data, 13 Reasons Why). You already know and love him, but prepare to fall deeper after this truly good hang. Fresh from recently opening the new play Data at the Lucille Lortel, Brandon talks about the preview process, developing his character Jonah, and his chilly walk to work in the West Village from his East Village apartment. Brandon gets honest about his coming out story, the radical queer life he lives with his talented husband Jordan Tannahill, and how he hopes he can pave the way for young queer actors. These ‘93 babies hit it off as they discuss The Real Housewives of Miami, Lady Gaga and the Grammys, and Charlize Theron’s transformation in Monster. But that’s not all, honey! They cover Rent Boy by Gary Indiana, 1000lb Sisters (drama!), and the lost art of the answering machine messages. In light of Heated Rivalry’s meteoric popularity, Brandon reflects on a similar effect when 13 Reasons Why was first released 10 years ago. This episode suuuuper gay btw!
