“Like a Drunk Chita Rivera” with Javier Muñoz
Episode notes
Connor and Dylan are joined by Javier Muñoz (Into the Woods, Hamilton). Summertime is in full effect, and Javier is spending his on the cape! Currently playing the Baker in The Cape Playhouse’s production of Into the Woods, Javier is stepping into the spotlight with a little Sondheim. As it's a favorite musical of all three fellas, they excavate lyrics, characters, and themes of this incredible piece. Javier speaks about the importance of Latin representation onstage, and what this moment means for him to be playing the Baker. Having been in the room where it happens a time or two, this star reflects on memories from Hamilton and In the Heights. Hear about how he was the first person to play John Laurens/Phillip, as well as Peggy, in early readings of what would become a cultural phenomenon. Javier tells incredible stories about Chita Rivera, the unwavering In the Heights family group text, and profound moments he’s experienced at the Richard Rodgers. Stick around for doses of DRAMA, including a Widow’s Bay update from Connor, Brokeback Mountain musings from Dylan, and the tease of an autobiographical project in the works (!!!) from Javier. Check him out, alongside friends Nick Adams, J Savage, and more in Into the Woods at The Cape Playhouse!
