Season 1

It's not getting any easier...

Your weekly dose of Warrington Wolves chat is back for another week! Mike Parsons is back to rejoin Matt Turner and Gareth Dunning to pick over what happened on and off the pitch at Magic Weekend - it was a big tick for Hill Dickinson Stadium as a venue, but not so much for The Wire's performance in defeat to Leigh Leopards. The chaps discuss whether or not head coach Sam Burgess will reflect on his team selection and wonder if he got it wrong, while they also discuss Sky pundit Sam Tomkins' prediction that Wire will now fall away and finish outside the play-off places. With a trip to a similarly depleted Wigan Warriors to come, we discuss whether or not Sam Powell's suspension should open the door for another talented young player to show he has both a short and long-term future at the club. All of that and more in Episode 21 of "The Wire Untangled" - the Warrington Guardian's dedicated Warrington Wolves podcast.

Can depleted side make some Magic?

Matt Turner and Gareth Dunning are back for another dose of Warrington Wolves chat! It was another win for The Wire last time out, but it came at a cost - we dissect the victory over Catalans Dragons, what we really liked about it and how a trio of fresh injury blows has left the squad as stretched as it has ever been. With key players dropping left right and centre, we also ask whether or not it might be time to bring Marc Sneyd back into the side as a guiding hand, or would that create more disruption than is necessary? Matt and Gareth also set a points target for a tough run of fixtures throughout July, which starts with the Magic Weekend clash with Leigh Leopards. Super League's annual summer extravaganza heads to the brand-new Hill Dickinson Stadium in Liverpool - a new ground for many, but not Everton FC fan Gareth who gives us a hint of what to expect from the state-of-the-art waterfront venue. Could it go straight in at number one as the best ever Magic Weekend venue? It has some strong competition to beat... All of that and more on this week's episode of "The Wire Untangled" - the Warrington Guardian's weekly Warrington Wolves podcast

A stumble or a fall as the heat turns up?

Your weekly dose of Warrington Wolves chat is back! Mike Parsons is back to rejoin Matt Turner and Gareth Dunning to look back over a difficult week in the wake of a defeat to Leeds Rhinos. Was the manner of the defeat cause for greater concern? Or will Sam Burgess' persistent trust in youth continue to serve them well? We also assess whether or not criticism of the forward pack is justified before turning our attention to Catalans Dragons' visit to The Halliwell Jones Stadium. With record temperatures expected, will Wire sizzle in the sun or wilt in the heat?

Message sent - another to follow?

Our weekly Warrington Wolves podcast is back for another episode. We're a troop light this week but Matt Turner and Gareth Dunning are still here to look back at an excellent week for The Wire - and look forward to an exciting one to come. Both were at the BrewDog Stadium as, driven by a plethora of young talent, Warrington won 18-6 at St Helens to set up the chance to finish Round 15 as Super League's new leaders. In order to do that, however, their team and the unbeaten home record face their biggest test as table-toppers Leeds Rhinos arrive at The Halliwell Jones Stadium. We discuss where the game might be won and lost, and why we feel the Wire barmy army have a big role to play in this top-of-the-table showdown.

Let's see what this team is really made of...

We are back! After three weeks away, our podcasting trio of Matt Turner, Mike Parsons and Gareth Dunning are back together to get themselves reacquainted with all things Warrington Wolves - and there is plenty to discuss! While recent performances haven't been entirely convincing, The Wire are handily placed in the Super League table but with a potentially defining run of fixtures about to start, we discuss the team's readiness for what is coming their way. We also discuss some of the news coming out of the club in recent days, namely Max Wood's loan move to Hull FC and Toby King's impending departure to join London Broncos. Wood's temporary departure in particular has caused a huge backlash among supporters - so has Sam Burgess made a mistake? And is it the right time for King to move on after more than a decade at the club? All of that and plenty more discussed on this week's episode of "The Wire Untangled" - your weekly Warrington Wolves podcast brought to you by the Warrington Guardian.

Ben Currie special - reflections on a stellar career

It is a very special episode of "The Wire Untangled" this week as host Matt Turner is joined by Warrington Wolves forward Ben Currie. The club's longest-serving player reflects on how he first came to join them from boyhood side Wigan, progressing through the ranks during a golden era at The Halliwell Jones Stadium and a senior career filled with highs and lows. Currie opens up on the two ACL injuries that hindered him, the difficulties that followed and rediscovering his love of the game under Sam Burgess. Valid concerns or perspective needed?

Matt, Mike and Gareth are back for the latest episode of our weekly Warrington Wolves podcast. In it, we talk more about the imminent arrival of Brodie Croft and how his signing for 2027 might affect the halves he may be linking up with at The Halliwell Jones Stadium. And despite another victory in Toulouse at the weekend, there is some concern floating around that The Wire's performances are trending the wrong way - are they valid? Or is some perspective needed given where they sit in the competition? To finish, we turn our attention to a first league meeting with Bradford Bulls in more than a decade - is it good to have the Bulls back in the top flight?

How can semi-final hangover be avoided, and is Croft on his way?

Matt, Mike and Gareth are back for the latest episode of "The Wire Untangled" - the Warrington Guardian's dedicated Warrington Wolves podcast. The chaps discuss the fall-out from Warrington's defeat to Hull KR in the Challenge Cup semi-finals, including whether or not what happened in Doncaster may end up benefiting them in the long run. With only Super League to focus upon now, we also ponder whether or not head coach Sam Burgess will stick with his mooted plan to rotate his side in the coming weeks, starting with Saturday's trip to Toulouse Olympique. And as Wire's search for a half-back to replace the departing George Williams continues, we discuss the links with Leeds Rhinos' Brodie Croft and whether or not he would be a good fit at The Halliwell Jones Stadium

Semi-final memories, and is it time to bin the video ref?

Matt, Mike and Gareth are back for another episode of "The Wire Untangled" - our dedicated Warrington Wolves podcast. In the aftermath of The Wire's win over Huddersfield Giants which featured a 57-minute second half, we ask whether or not it is time to drastically alter - or even remove - the video referee process from rugby league. The chaps also pick out those who stood out in the 34-4 victory before attention turns to Sunday's seismic Challenge Cup semi-final against Hull KR. We discuss where the game may be won and lost before finishing with our favourite Challenge Cup semi-final memories.

The 'arrival' of James Bentley and the debut of 'Turner's Top 10s'

Matt, Mike and Gareth are back to review another excellent result for Warrington Wolves after Wigan Warriors were beaten at The Halliwell Jones Stadium. The chaps discuss James Bentley's impressive individual performance and ponder whether or not this will be the catalyst for his Wire career truly taking off, while there is also high praise for Ewan Irwin after he ably filled the shoes of the injured George Williams. Attention then turns to Saturday's trip to Huddersfield Giants and with a Challenge Cup semi-final on the horizon, we ask whether or not Sam Burgess may be tempted into some rotation. And to finish off, Matt tests out Mike and Gareth's Super League knowledge in the debut of our quiz segment "Turner's Top 10s"
