Iran's War on Western Minds

What if the most dangerous weapon deployed by a foreign adversary isn't a ballistic missile or a stealth drone, but a tailored narrative designed to make a society tear itself apart from within? For three decades, the Islamic Republic of Iran has conducted an asymmetric information warfare strategy aimed at destabilizing Western democracies. Rather than relying solely on conventional military power, this campaign leverages weaponized narratives, engineered political alliances, and digital amplification to erode social trust and divide public opinion. In this podcast, you will explore the strategic roots, human networks, digital tactics and diagnostic frameworks behind this prolonged influence operation. Learning Objectives: Analyze the strategic doctrine of jang-e narm (soft war) and why weaponized antisemitism functions as a cross-spectrum organizing principle. Deconstruct how offline conference networks were engineered to build a "red-brown alliance" between radical far-left and far-right movements. Trace the multi-stage content laundering process that converts foreign state-sponsored propaganda into mainstream domestic discourse. Apply narrative intelligence diagnostic frameworks—such as the 72-Hour Window—to identify coordinated foreign influence operations in real time.
