The Reformed Classroom Catechism Podcast Series: What is God? Where is God?

Episode 6 — What Is God? Where Is God? In this episode, Lauren continues our journey through the Children’s Catechism by learning two important truths about God: What is God? God is a Spirit and does not have a body like men. Where is God? God is everywhere. We’ll talk about what it means that God is a Spirit and why we can know that God is real even though we cannot see Him with our eyes. We’ll also explore what it means that God is everywhere and how this truth reminds us that we are never outside of God’s presence. We’ll open our Bibles to John 4:24 and Psalm 139:7–10 and discover what God’s Word teaches us about who God is and His presence with us wherever we go. And most importantly, we’ll see how these truths point us to the good news of Jesus Christ—the One who came to save sinners and bring us to God. Scripture in This Episode John 4:24 Psalm 139:7–10 Catechism Questions Q: What is God? A: God is a Spirit and does not have a body like men. Q: Where is God? A: God is everywhere. Family Discussion After listening, talk about these questions together: What does it mean that God is a Spirit? Can we see God with our eyes? Does that mean He isn’t real? What are some things that are real even though we cannot see them? What does it mean that God is everywhere? Is there anywhere we can go where God is not present? How can knowing that God is always present comfort us when we are afraid? How should knowing that God is always with us change the way we live? Remember This Week God is a Spirit. God is everywhere. We cannot see God with our eyes, but He is completely real and is always present with His people. Want to Go Deeper? The Reformed Classroom Catechism Podcast Series: In how many persons does this one God exist? Name those persons.

In this episode, Lauren continues our journey through the Children’s Catechism and begins exploring one of the most amazing truths about God: the Trinity. We’ll learn that there is one true God who exists in three persons—the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. We’ll open our Bibles to Matthew 28:19 and 2 Corinthians 13:14 and see how Scripture speaks about the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The Trinity can be difficult for us to understand, and that’s okay! Rather than trying to explain the Trinity with an illustration that doesn’t fully represent who God is, we’ll let God’s Word tell us what is true about Him. We may not understand everything about God, but we can trust what He has revealed about Himself. We’ll also talk about how the Trinity connects to the gospel: the Father sends, the Son saves, and the Holy Spirit works in us. Scripture in This Episode Matthew 28:19 2 Corinthians 13:14 Catechism Questions Q: In how many persons does this one God exist? A: In three persons. Q: Name those persons. A: The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Family Discussion After listening, talk about these questions together: How many true Gods are there? In how many persons does this one God exist? Who are the three persons of the Trinity? Does the Bible teach that there are three Gods? Are the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit three different persons? What does Matthew 28:19 teach us about the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit? What does 2 Corinthians 13:14 teach us about the work of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit? Why is it okay if we don’t completely understand the Trinity? Why is it important to believe what God has revealed about Himself in His Word? How does the Trinity help us understand the gospel? What does the Father do? What does the Son do? What does the Holy Spirit do? Remember This Week There is one true God who exists in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. We may not understand everything about God, but we can trust everything He has revealed about Himself. Want to Go Deeper? The Reformed Classroom Catechism Podcast Series: Is there more than one true God?

In this episode, Lauren continues our journey through the Children’s Catechism by reviewing what we’ve already learned and introducing a new question: Is there more than one true God? No. There is only one true God. We’ll talk about what it means that there is only one true God and why He deserves to be first in our hearts. We’ll explore how good things, like our toys, friends, activities, and favorite things, can sometimes become more important to us than God, and why we need to remember that God comes first. We’ll open our Bibles to Deuteronomy 6:4 and Ephesians 4:4–6 and discover what God’s Word teaches us about the one true God and why He alone deserves our love and worship. Scripture in This Episode Deuteronomy 6:4 Ephesians 4:4–6 Catechism Question Q: Is there more than one true God? A: No. There is only one true God. Family Discussion After listening, talk about these questions together: How many true Gods are there? What does it mean that God is the one true God? Why should God be first in our hearts? What are some good things that God gives us to enjoy? How can good things sometimes become too important to us? What does it look like to put God first at home? Why do we need Jesus when we don’t always put God first? How can we remember that God is more important than anything else? Remember This Week There is only one true God. We can enjoy many good things, but God should always be first in our hearts. Want to Go Deeper? The Reformed Classroom Catechism Podcast Series: Why are you to glorify God?

Welcome back to the Reformed Classroom Podcast! In this episode, we’re continuing our journey through the Children’s Catechism and building on what we’ve already learned about God, His glory, and our purpose. We’ve learned that God made us and all things for His own glory and that we can glorify God by loving Him and doing what He commands. But today, we’re asking an important follow-up question: Why are we to glorify God? The answer reminds us of two wonderful truths: God made us, and God takes care of us. In this episode, we’ll talk about how God intentionally created each one of us, how He knows us and cares for us, and how recognizing His care should lead us to respond with gratitude, worship, love, and obedience. Scripture for This Episode Psalm 139:13–16 God formed us in our mother’s womb and knows us completely. Psalm 23:1–4 David describes the Lord as his Shepherd who leads, provides for, protects, and remains with His people—even in difficult circumstances. Family Discussion Questions Why are you to glorify God? What are some ways God takes care of you? What does Psalm 139 teach us about the way God made us? What does a shepherd do for his sheep? Why is it comforting to know that God is with us when we have hard days? What is one thing God has given you that you can thank Him for today? How can you glorify God this week by loving Him and obeying His commands? This Week's Challenge This week, practice noticing the ways God cares for you. When you recognize something God has provided—a meal, a family member, a friend, a beautiful part of creation, your church family, His Word, or something else—stop and say: “Thank You, God.” Then remember our catechism question: Why are you to glorify God? Because He made me and takes care of me. Kids' Bible Question Do you have a question about God, the Bible, Jesus, or the Christian faith? We’d love to hear it! Parents, send your child’s question to thereformedclassroom@gmail.com. Their question might be answered on a future episode of the Reformed Classroom Podcast! For His own glory. How can you glorify God? By loving Him and doing what He commands. We’ll talk about what it means for God to be glorified and why our lives have a purpose. The Reformed Classroom Catechism Podcast Series: What else did God make?

Episode 2: What Else Did God Make? In this episode, Lauren continues our journey through the Children’s Catechism with our second question: What else did God make? God made all things. We’ll build on what we learned in Episode 1 about God being our Creator and discover that God didn’t just make people—He made everything! Together, we’ll open our Bibles and look at Psalm 33:6–7 and Acts 17:24–25 to learn about God’s power as Creator and what it means that He made the world and everything in it. We’ll also talk about the big idea of creation out of nothing, sometimes called ex nihilo. God didn’t need materials, tools, or anyone else to help Him create. He simply spoke, and creation came into existence! Most importantly, we’ll see how knowing that God created everything gives us a reason to worship Him, trust Him, and recognize His goodness and power throughout creation. Scripture in This Episode Psalm 33:6–7 Acts 17:24–25 Catechism Question Q: What else did God make? A: God made all things. Family Discussion After listening, talk about these questions together: What did God make? How did God create the world? What does it mean that God created everything “out of nothing”? Can we create something out of absolutely nothing? Why not? What are some things you see every day that remind you that God is our Creator? Why does knowing that God made everything give us a reason to worship Him? How does this question connect to our first catechism question, “Who made you?” Want to Go Deeper? The Reformed Classroom Catechism Podcast Series: What is a catechism? Who made you?

Episode 1: What Is the Catechism? | Who Made You? In this episode, Lauren introduces us to the Children’s Catechism and explains what a catechism is, why it is helpful for children, and—most importantly—why the Bible remains our ultimate authority. Then we dive into our very first catechism question: Who made you? God. Together, we’ll open our Bibles and look at Genesis 1:27 and Psalm 100:3 to discover what Scripture teaches us about our Creator and how wonderfully He made us. We’ll also answer our first Kids’ Bible Question, submitted by a listener from Tennessee: Why did Adam and Eve choose to sin? We’ll look at Genesis 3:1–6, talk about how Satan tempted Eve to doubt God’s goodness and His Word, and see how Adam and Eve’s sin brought guilt, shame, death, and separation from God. But the story doesn’t end there! We’ll also begin to see the beautiful rescue plan of the gospel—God’s promise to send Jesus, who lived the perfect life we could never live and took the punishment we deserve. 📖 Scripture in This Episode Genesis 1:27 Psalm 100:3 Genesis 3:1–6 💬 Catechism Question Q: Who made you? A: God. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Family Discussion After listening, talk about these questions together: What is a catechism? Who made you? What makes the way God created you special?
