What does it mean to truly seek God with everything we have? In this exploration of Matthew 6:16-18, we are invited into one of the most neglected yet powerful spiritual disciplines in the Christian life: fasting. Jesus does not present fasting as an optional extra for the especially devoted -- He assumes His followers will fast. The question He raises is not whether we fast, but how and why. The passage cuts straight to the heart, warning us against the trap of performing spiritual disciplines for the approval of those watching us rather than for God alone.
