Episode notes
The gifts of the Spirit did not begin in Corinth or even at Pentecost. They flow through the entire biblical story. In this session, we trace the Spirit’s work through the Old Testament as the breath of life, the fire of holiness, the giver of wisdom, the source of prophetic speech, and the promise of restoration. Through Genesis, Numbers, Isaiah, Ezekiel, and Joel, we see how the Spirit gives life, empowers leadership, purifies hearts, awakens prophetic witness, and prepares the way for the outpouring of the Spirit through Jesus Christ.
This teaching also explores why holiness and power must remain together. The Spirit who empowers God’s people also cleanses, renews, and forms them in holy love. Scriptures: Genesis 1:2; Genesis 2:7; Numbers 11:24–29; Isaiah 11:1–3; Ezekiel 36:26–27; Ezekiel 37:1–14; Joel 2:28–32 Spirit of God, breathe upon us again.
