Bryor, day two — the Tending Begins. Benedetto reads the front page — a double birthday at the Press, Romeo turns three and Roma turns two — then Violetta reads all eighteen Companion Signs. Mira tells four tales (the Labrador's Mud Spa Enthusiast, the Beagle's Escape Artist, the Afghan's Velvet Rope of the Heart, the Poodle Pout), the Weather Desk walks Singapore, Vancouver, Marrakech, and Oslo, and today's Dog Game is Reunion Sprint. Scratch files the Police Report and the Barketplace. Madame de Pamplemousse takes the editorial chair ('In Praise of the One Small Thing') and the Book Page: You Decided to Get a Velgorod Mountain Terrier, five paws. Bruno closes with 'On the Second Morning.'
Musical breaks, from the author's own notebook: 'Sip Slow' and 'Run with the Wind.'
