Episode notes

Over the past few years, more than 2 million people became internally displaced by the insurgency in Nigeria's Northeast; with Borno State as the epicentre of the violence. Many of those affected sought shelter in different camps created by the State government.

Right now, the state has an ambitious plan to resettle all displaced persons by 2025. It sees the relocation as an important step towards providing people with an opportunity to rebuild their lives, but what happens when uncertainty is all that lurks beyond the camps’ gates?

In today's episode, we look at the measures, or lack of, put in place by the state government to accelerate the transition and  rehabilitation of these communities, and the gap that exists between ideation and effective implementation.
