''The Death of John the Baptist''

🔹 INTRO John the Baptist: a bold preacher of repentance and deliverance He confronted sin—even when it cost him In John 8, religious leaders were ready to kill a woman in adultery but ignored Herod’s sin Now, John is in the dungeon for speaking the truth 🔸 1. Repentance Was Offered (v. 3) John preached truth to power—even to Herod His message didn’t change, even when the audience was dangerous Real preaching offers deliverance, not comfort 🔸 2. Revenge Was Desired The Wicked Queen (Herodias) nursed a grudge The Worldly Party (v. 6) created an atmosphere of sin The Woman’s Trick (v. 8)—Herodias used her daughter to trap Herod 🔸 3. Regret Was Certain (v. 7) Herod made a foolish vow He silenced the voice of God in his life Luke 23:7—Herod later mocks Jesus, showing no repentance 🔸 4. Real Faith Is Seen (v. 12) John's disciples buried his body and carried on Faith is seen in what we do—even when all seems lost John fulfilled his calling: “He must increase, but I must decrease.” CLOSING THOUGHTS: John’s mission was finished—he faithfully prepared the way for Christ Faithfulness often brings persecution, not popularity The world rejects Christ—and His messengers But we must stay faithful, as John did, even to the end Let’s remain bold in truth, faithful in calling, and humble in spirit. '' When the Children Ask'' - (Exodus part 7)

In this episode, we pick up the story of the Exodus following the events of the Passover. Read Exodus 13 as we study the thought... '' When the Children ask'' God is Powerful Exodus 13:14 “By the strength of hand the Lord brought us out…” He parts waters, levels walls, wins battles. He’s still doing the miraculous today. God makes a way when there is no way. God Will Always Provide Exodus 13:15 “The Lord slew all the firstborn… I sacrifice to the Lord…” God made provision through the lamb for His people. “But all the firstborn of my children I redeem” — a picture of grace and substitution.God Has Purpose Exodus 13:16 “It shall be for a token upon thine hand…” Deuteronomy 11:18 God’s commands are not to be forgotten—they’re to be seen, remembered, and obeyed. God leads His people — Exodus 13:21-22 — “And the Lord went before them…” 🎵 “He leadeth me, O blessed thought…” Free with Purpose “There are two freedoms—the false, where a man is free to do what he likes; and the true, where a man is free to do what he ought.” — Charles Kingsley Israel struggled with both. We still struggle today. Freedom is not a toy, it’s a tool. Use it to follow God’s will, not indulge your own. Close: A Cautionary Tale 1929 Rose Bowl — Roy “Wrong Way” Riegels Make sure you are going the right way and teaching other to follow that way.

''Christ the Passover Lamb'' - (Exodus part 6)

God was not just delivering Israel from Egypt, but bringing them to Himself. The Passover marked a new beginning—a time of redemption by God's righteousness. I. The Lamb Was Chosen – Exodus 12:3 Chosen specifically by God. Jesus is the Chosen of God (Luke 23:35; 1 Peter 2:4). He fulfilled Isaiah 53: “as a lamb to the slaughter.” II. The Lamb Was Choice – Exodus 12:5 A lamb without blemish—pure and perfect. Christ was sinless (1 Peter 1:19; Hebrews 4:15). Only a spotless Savior could take our place. III. The Lamb Was to Cover – Exodus 12:7, 21–27 The Lamb had to be slain (1 Cor. 5:7). The blood had to be applied—personally and publicly. Salvation came when the blood was on the door. Final Thought: Christ is our Passover Lamb—chosen, perfect, and slain. But His blood must be personally applied to your heart. “Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.” – John 1:29 Church Website: https://www.ashlandstreetbaptist.com/ Podcast Website: https://rss.com/podcasts/the-ashland-... ''Look what Mom taught Me''

This special Mother's Day episode highlights how the story of Samuel and his mother Hannah shows that the future of a nation begins in the home—and the home begins with the heart of a godly mother. Lessons from a Godly Mother: She Taught Him to Pray (1 Sam. 1:9-11, 27-28; 3:19) When worship is present, prayer is powerful. Moms, it’s your joy and privilege to teach your children to pray and worship. She Taught Him to Keep Promises (1 Sam. 1:24-28) Hannah kept her vow to the Lord. Godly moms model integrity and faithfulness. She Taught Him to Praise (1 Sam. 2:1-10) Don’t just pray—praise! Hannah’s song of praise reminds us that answered prayer deserves wholehearted gratitude. She Taught Him about God’s Promotion (1 Sam. 2:18-21) God gives more than we could ever gain on our own. Trust in His provision and timing. Final Thought: A mother carries a child for 9 months—but her lessons last a lifetime. Will others remember the lessons you taught them? '' The Cheers of the Young and Tears of the Old''

I. They Had to Let Go of the Past Older men remembered the grandeur, gold, and glory of the first temple. But living in the past blinded them to what God wanted to do next. Acts 2:17 reminds us: God still has a future work! ➔ As long as their minds stayed on the past, they had no hope for the future. II. They Had to Embrace the Present (Ezra 3:11) Living in the past robbed them of today’s blessings. Story of William Randolph Hearst: sometimes we already possess the treasures we’re seeking! The people’s mixed emotions sent a confusing message (Ezra 3:13, 1 Corinthians 14:8). ➔ They squandered the opportunity to finish God’s work. They delayed for 15 years (Haggai 1:1–5). ➔ Today is our time to obey (John 9:4). III. They Had to Believe in the Promise (Haggai 2:9) God promised:“The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former...” The real glory was the presence of Jesus Himself (Acts 5:20, 5:42). Final Challenge: ➔ Don’t live in the past. ➔ Don’t waste today. ➔ Trust the promises of God!
