How to Move Your Dreams into Action by Connecting Your Goals to Specific Projects A goal without a project connected to it is just a dream. If you are serious about achieving your goals, you don’t JUST need written goals, you need priorities, projects, and a written plan to accomplish them. How I Set and Achieve Powerful Goals Step 1. Dream big - allow yourself to dream with the lid off about what is possible for your life. Be bold and write down what you really want. Step 2. Turn your dreams into SMART Goals. Specific, Measurable, Actionable, Realistic, Time-Based (with a deadline). Step 3. Identify your highest priorities - what is The ONE THING that you could do, such that by doing it, everything else becomes easier or unnecessary? (This question comes from Gary Keller in his book, The One Thing - I highly recommend it). Step 4. Brainstorm projects that will move you toward your goal. Be sure to focus on the key metrics you need to achieve in order for your goal to become a reality. HOW will you generate leads? WHO do you need to reach out to in order to have the connections you need? Step 5. Identify your action steps to complete each project. Estimate how much time each action step will take. Set a deadline for completion of each action step. Step 6: Put blocks of time on your calendar for specific action items for the amount of time you estimated it will take, and label that time block with what you need to accomplish during that time. In this episode, we talk about how to give (and receive) the support you truly need - but don’t know how to ask for. 5 Ways to Be a Champion for Your Sisters in Business Make 1-1 Connections Be interested in their life and business Learn their goals Look for Connections to Make for ThemFind out who is a good referral for them Actively look for connections to make Celebrate them publicly AND privately Comment / like / share their posts Invite people to their event Send them a message or call to say, “Way to Go!” Create a culture of celebrating action-taking Don’t JUST celebrate wins, celebrate “failures” as part of their journey taking action Hold space for them in hard times Create a “circle of trust” - be someone who holds confidences for others Allow people to share vulnerably with you - by sharing vulnerably with them - not for commiseration, but for “me too” level understanding Call them back above the line when needed - as a lifeline to help pull them out of the pit BONUS STRATEGY: Pray for each other - out loud. Words have power. Praying peace and wisdom over a sister is one of the most powerful things you can do to be of service to them in a challenging time. Your path doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s. The reality is - you make the rules. You get to decide how you build your business. You decide where to live, what to drive, when to work, and how to leverage your resources. Don’t get so caught up in how other people have created success, that you don’t stop and think about how your situation may be totally different from theirs. You may have a totally different set of circumstances, strengths, and opportunities. Just because you start down a path, you don’t have to continue on it if it isn’t working for you. My Challenge for You Today: Practice “upsetting the apple cart” in your life. This is a practice of looking at your situation from a completely different perspective.If there’s something you’re struggling through, write it down, and ask yourself, “what if I could no longer do that thing?” If all the current “apples in your cart” were dumped out and you had to make a new plan - what would you do instead? Stop focusing on what you can’t do and make a list of the things that you CAN do. Then, decide what you will do, and get to work.
