AI in 2026: Ethics, Career Survival & The Human Edge | Asif Alam | These American Portraits
In this episode, Aisha Sarwari sits down with Asif Alam, CEO of ActiveComply and a veteran leader at the intersection of AI and global finance. From a curious child taking apart his mother's Singer sewing machine in Karachi to leading AI transformations at Thomson Reuters, Asif shares his journey of "engineer's itch." We dive deep into the practical realities of Artificial Intelligence—debunking myths, discussing the hardware vs. software race (NVIDIA, China, & the US), and addressing the fears around job displacement. Asif explains why AI is a "co-pilot, not an autopilot," the importance of critical thinking, and how to stay relevant in an AI-driven world.
