President Trump Launches America.gov
Episode notes
President Donald J. Trump's full remarks at the launch of America.gov in Washington, D.C.
The President described the new website as a single front door to the federal government, where Americans can ask questions and get answers immediately. He cited examples such as getting a passport, changing a name after marriage, choosing a Medicare plan, reserving a national park campsite and claiming veterans' benefits. He said the site was built with privacy in mind and argued that it removes objections to proof-of-citizenship and voter ID rules, and he urged passage of the SAVE America Act.
He also said the administration would now call artificial intelligence "super intelligence," or SI, discussed competition with China, and touched on Iran and oil prices. He then signed an executive order directing federal agencies to integrate their public-facing services with America.gov.
