Benefits of the Wilderness: From the Dust

Dating back to Genesis we see that God created man from the dust of the ground. This was a wilderness place. Every man that God is going to form must yield to the tool of a wilderness. It was after the man was formed that God saw him fit to be put into the garden. We are not ready for our personal garden until God has used the wilderness to make our lives. It was in Midian, a desert, that God prepared Moses to deliver the children of Israel. God's purpose is halted until we volunteer ourselves to be taken into the wilderness to be made. Avoiding the wilderness could be the reason that the world is still ignorant about who God is. If we are going to be usable vessels we must yield to God's making process and tool: the wilderness. Benefits of the Wilderness: Fruitfulness

One of the biggest benefits of the wilderness is that God wants to transform it into a fruitful field. Wells are only built in dry places. An oasis is not valuable in the crowded city. It takes an impossible situation that allows God to begin to work for us. When it is covered with grace God effortlessly turns something dry into something productive for the kingdom. No desert is too dry for God to make into an oasis. How we focus and trust in God will determine if every challenge is turned into disaster or an asset to the plan of God in our lives. Benefits of the Wilderness

Are there benefits to being in a dry place? If Jesus went through the wilderness and overcame then so must we. How can something good possibly come out of a desert? God uses wilderness type experiences to make us. If we are going to become God's heirs, then we must actively enlist ourselves to the tests of the enemy. When we do this the characteristics of Christ can come forth. As we follow Jesus, our pattern, into our own deserts it will also make us more faithful. Those who come out of the desert successfully are those who are loyal to God. If you know who you are in God, then no enemy can talk you out of being loyal to God. The Life of Change: Purpose of the Wilderness

Can a dry place be beneficial? We see that after Jesus came out of the wilderness He was able to accomplish His purpose. He healed, casted out devils, and produced fishers of men. Jesus fulfilled every aspect of God's will. We also see that after the wilderness Jesus received power. Without power Jesus wouldn't have been able to complete God's plan. Jesus knew that being God's Son wasn't enough to empower Him on His journey. Every desert experience should empower us to complete a certain aspect of God's will. God may have brought you into a wilderness or dry place because He wants you to be completed. It is only after we've been through the wilderness that God can give us what we need to succeed. The Life of Change: Capacity for the Word

Jesus promised the Samaritan woman that whoever drinks from the water He gives will have eternal life and a well springing within them. This well is our inner capacity to hide the Word of God in our hearts. The desert is where we increase our capacity for God's Word. This capacity is a deep understanding of the Word. It is how the Word has changed and transformed us. When this is shared with others it creates change and a righteous influence. It points people to our Savior. Digging in the Word daily is a requirement for usefulness. When God decides to use us, He won't be limited by what He can say through you. How's your spiritual capacity? The Life of Change: Identity in The Wilderness

To be a usable vessel in God's hands we must go through wilderness-type situations. These trials are dry, unpleasant, and sometimes lack relief. We see how God used Jesus's time in the wilderness to finish the making process. Likewise, our wilderness needs to complete God's process resulting in ultimate usefulness. The wilderness is used to develop our identity in Christ. "If thou art the Son of God". This is the question the enemy asks every child of God he encounters in the desert. What will be your response? The Life of Change: Healing the Land

Our responsibility as vessels of change is to heal the land. Every person in darkness is spiritually wounded. God wants to use us to bring healing to them as we share the gospel of Christ. For this to manifest we must first be healed. Becoming a new cruse includes spiritual and physical healing. When Jesus healed people, He made them whole. The goal of healing is to be made complete. Without healing the world can not come into a place of completeness. People will continue to live in a partial state if we do not bring the healing power of the gospel. The Life of Change: Prayer

What is your prayer life like? Do you pray for your city, family and friends? As a vessel that God wants to use, we care called to not be lazy, careless children of God. We in turn must pray. God sees a nonexistent prayer life as lazy. If we want to create change, we have to go to the Father and ask Him. God will not intervene except His children cry out for His Spirit to be released. The Life of Change: A Pure Container

God doesn't use people He uses containers. If you aren't willing to be made into a usable container then you simply can't be used. God does not use ready-made man to impact or change the land. He uses vessels that He has hand-crafted Himself. God is looking to make us pure containers, full of righteousness. If we are impure, we will only squander God's plan for our lives and others'. The Life of Change: Bad Water, Barren Land

If the source of your life is bad, then your life can only produce evil. A life whose source isn't God cannot produce a godly life. This dynamic is connected to the principle of reproduction. A life can only reproduce the life it currently carries. If we want to cause change in our environment, then we must bear the correct source. If coming out of us is a contaminated Jesus, then we can only give that same Jesus to the world. Do not be deceived God will not be mocked, for that which a man sows he will reap.
