Episode notes
Kendall Roy's public betrayal of his father at the end of season two sends both sides into immediate war footing. Logan flies himself and a core team — including Tom — to Sarajevo to avoid U.S. jurisdiction, while Shiv, Roman, and Gerri are sent back to New York. Kendall, locked out of Waystar's offices, sets up a counter-operation from his ex-wife Rava's apartment, hiring crisis-PR strategist Berry Schneider and securing top attorney Lisa Arthur. Logan names Gerri interim CEO rather than any of his children, and retaliates for the Lisa loss by hiring the more aggressive Layo Upton.
This episode establishes the structural logic the season will run on: power measured in lawyers and phone calls, not confrontation. The CEO vacancy instantly fractures the Roy siblings into competing solo campaigns. Tom's physical proximity to Logan in Sarajevo signals a quiet but significant realignment in the family hierarchy, while Shiv's failed play for Lisa reveals how quickly Logan recalibrates against anyone who falls short.
