The older I get, the more I realize that protecting your kids isn’t just about keeping them safe from the world—it’s about understanding the world they’re growing up in. In this episode of Suburban Dope: Parenting Trials, I talk about the lengths we go to as parents to protect our children, while looking back at a moment from my own childhood when I took off on an adventure that had my family—and the police—looking for me. Now, as a father of four, I see that story completely differently. Somewhere between work, kids, bills, responsibilities, and trying to keep everybody alive, it’s easy to forget that you’re still a person too.
